Anecdata from my family - I knew ours expired in 2019 but I wasn't paying attention - turns out they expire in April. So March 16, husband and I submitted renewal applications (first renewals). He received an email today that his was approved so I logged in and mine has been approved as well.

1. Timeline - 2 weeks
2. One person got email, other did not
3. Neither of us required to have interview

Hopefully we will see more of this (14 - 21 day processing) as they get through the processing backlog due to the recent shutdown.

My GE expires this year. Went on line and applied for a renewal, took 5 minutes. Was sent the new card in less than 2 weeks. No interview needed.

Nice and easy

Is there any place I can see when I submitted my renewal application? My credit card statement says the fee was charged 3/5, but I feel like it’s been quite a while longer. Maybe I’m just impatient...

Unless there was a glitch, you submitted it on 3/5. Apps aren’t considered submitted unless the payment has been made.

Every log-in generates an email for me. Maybe check your email for emails from Login.gov notifying you that someone logged into your account.

Applied for renewal and paid on Jan 22, 2019. (Flew thru IAD day before and kiosk said it expires in 20 days...had totally forgot and applied for renewal immediately).
Interestingly, I flew thru ORD on October 28, 2018 and kiosk didn't mention expiration
Used global entry in BOS on Feb 10, 2019 and mine said -1 day. Flew within country and could still use PreCheck. Flew out of country on Feb 22 and used PreCheck.
Application says Pending Review still...

I live in Europe and hope the renewal comes thru soon. My application had some South American countries and many African and Asian countries. Hopefully its approved before my 6 month grace is up...I don't even know how to go thru "normal" passport control anymore.

UPDATE: received conditional approval sometime in the last week. just have to schedule interview. did NOT receive an email...had logged in last weekend and was pending so it was approved sometime in past week. so for me the process was about ~70 days

My renewal application has been stuck for more than 1.5 months. Some are reporting 2-week approval.

Is there any path for escalation?

I'm a new applicant, but have been looking at the various threads here on Global Entry application processing times - including this one. The renewals seem to fit the pattern of initial applications - some less than 2 weeks, but the majority were more than 2 months. I haven't seen any reports in the gap between 14 and 67 days.

For those of us who've had to wait, approvals seem to be coming through at the moment for applications made in the second half of January.

I applied for renewal in December with my global entry expiry in January. I was conditionally approved March 3 and I have an interview this week. There was no communication ever concerning my global entry expiry or renewal. The only reason I realized it was expiring is because the kiosk warned me in December. I had to check the website to see my status and when it did change I was not notified. At any rate it doesn't really matter how long it takes for them to approve your renewal as your global entry remains active while you wait for conditional approval. If you do have to schedule an interview like I do you have a certain period of time to get the interview done and if you don't do it then your global entry will ultimately expire.

Can't seem to renew

'm having a different problem. I have logged in a few times this year using the new login system and I cannot seem to renew my GE. The instructions say to click the blue renew button on the dashboard, but i have no such button. My GE expires 06/2019 so I should be eligible so I don't know why I don't have a button. I did have an apply button for Nexus which I haven't gotten before so I applied for that and it is pending, but still no renew option for GE. Has anyone had this issue?

My global entry is expiring this Friday. I applied for a renewal, paid and submitted my application 15 days ago and I am still "Pending Review"
I would have thought that I would have had a quick and (nearly) automatic approval since I already hold the status but I guess not

Nexus includes GE so you don't need both (and you can't have both).

Also - you can only have one TTP application at a time. Your Nexus application must complete before applying for another TTP program.

You can 1) wait for your Nexus application to complete, or 2) cancel your pending Nexus application and renew GE.

While your Nexus application is pending, your GE membership should continue to be valid for an additional six months beyond its scheduled expiration.

Logged in today and my renewal was approved. I applied on Feb 11.

<redacted by moderator> If one’s G.E. renewal is approved without the need for an interview, will a G.E. office entertain a request for a new card with an updated photo?

I applied for renewal on March 25 and just logged in to see it was approved (I didn’t get a status-change email). I have an early-morning layover at MIA tomorrow, so I thought about requesting an updated card. Thanks.

Folks,

My apologies for locking up this thread in error.

I am not sure how it happened, however, I was traveling and moderating from my phone using the mobile site, which has a different moderation interface than the full site. Probably a fat finger syndrome. :o
