So I've skimmed the thread and read the wiki without finding an answer so...
I started the process to renew GE when I got my new passport back in June. At about 3am(!) on Sunday (November 18th -- close to, if not, exactly 5 months after I submitted the renewal) I got the notification that I was conditionally approved and needed to schedule the interview. All of the GE facilities in Ohio as well as the one that would be quasi-practical to get to in PA and MI are showing no interviews available -- not "an interview a freaking long time in the future" but none available, period. I think I found one facility on one of the coasts that had an opening in April of 2020 or so -- but would like to get this done before then just so I don't have to worry about it. I know in the past some facilities accepted walk-in for initial applications... is that (still) the case for renewals? Any list of facilities that do walk-ins? Hoping I can go camp out at CBP in Middleburg Heights (I have vacation time to burn before EOY anyway ;) ) and/or give it a whirl at EWR when I'm passing through tomorrow and Thursday. |

Hello lincolnjkc,
Please refer to the following threads: For indexing and future search purposes, please discuss Global Entry enrollment interview appointments availability, walk-in interviews and Enrollment on Arrival in the respective threads on those topics. Any phone number to call with prompts please thanks You can find the phone number and prompts by scrolling back up, but fair warning, nearly impossible to get through and I've been told they won't do anything before day 182. Good luck and keep us posted. |

I also applied on June 12, 159 days ago, and still nothing !!! (Which I believe is the longest so far anyone on here is waiting).

Good luck and keep us posted. BTW, I've got you both beat by one day--June 11, 160 days. Expiration in Feb 2020. I know I have until Feb 2021, but with a couple of int'l trips coming up it would be nice to do EOA and get it over and done with, if interview is necessary. |

Just curious, when is/was your expiration date and what part of the US are you in? I'm wondering if expiration dates or processing location have anything to do with the priority in the queue or if it really is just a random luck of the draw.

You have one year from conditional approval date to complete your interview, not your current Global Entry expiration date.

I'm in Ohio (and my original application went from application -> conditional approval in less than 48 hours and did the entire process including interview in less than a week). I think processing location for the application is strictly random (first time around it came from Vermont, IIRC) Expiration is May of 2020 -- renewed July 13 (thought it was June but just checked TTP and that's the date it shows) -- have wondered if the fact that I still have plenty of time before expiration contributed to the slow turnaround (e.g. giving priority to earlier expirations) but it sounds like that's not the case from this unscientific sample. Also curious what the criteria is for requiring a new interview -- guessing in my case my "exotic" travel (14 countries in the past 5 years including China and Mongolia) may have set up a flag, otherwise I have a very unique name and a clean history... |
Anyone think that those who are applying super early (i.e. 364 days before expiration) are falling to the back of the queue?
I applied maybe 6 months before expiration (I was asleep at the renewal year), and was approved in 70 days. |

stanj - Most here believe it's completely random, and I agree but I also think that what's being randomized is ONE person from each shared household ending up in the long queue, regardless of location or anything else. As for location and interviews, etc., if I can't get an appointment I'll just have to make a trip to Vancouver and do Entry on Arrival (separate thread on this forum fyi, you get 1 year to complete interview however there are NO appointments available for months out at most airports and most office hours have been cut). An email I received confirming receipt of my renewal app stated that you get ONE year beyond expiration date in which the GE benefits are still good. There have been varying reports about TSA-Pre, but it's looking like if you filed renewal before expiry it will also continue, but no one knows if that will be 6 vs. 12 months post expiry, as TSA and CBP are different sub-agencies. And just to relay some info from the other, EoA thread, people are having reasonable luck at walk-in interviews at both IAD and at the Reagan Building in DC. See the other thread for specifics. StanJ - I hereby cede my Crown of Pointless Waiting to you. Huzzah. Do let us know when you get approval! |

I am in Southern CA, not far from the border. When I applied for 2nd renewal on June 12, that was 5 months prior to my expiry this month. My husband and daughter, who reside at the same address, also applied around mid-June. My husband was 2 months prior to expiry, my daughter 4 months. They BOTH got approved in less than 5 business days and got new cards in less than 2 weeks, no interview required.

I thought I saw some posts that reported couples both getting approved quickly, so not sure about your theory on one person from each household getting stuck in the queue. Although, who knows? |
I submitted my renewal, change of address, new passport number and many new countries visited in May, 2019. My GE expiry was May 2020. I never received and conditional approval notification, it never appeared on my account. Today I got an email and upon checking my account, renewal was approved, no interview needed. Crazy.
