Unfortunately, it just keeps getting longer... I am at 109 and still pending.. I fully expect to pass the 112 just posted, lol.

To address your first comment. The one time I did call, I was on hold for 49 minutes before getting to a human, and it took more than 10 minutes to navigate the voice menus. So an hour. As for wait times, 112 days is the new record, and counting... (I'm at day 70...)

$100 charge hit my card on 4/22 and still waiting as of today (went through GE kiosk though with no issues this morning). 109 days and counting...

And the one time I did call, the menus kept hanging up on me. I just gave up. If it still is lingering around my 1/2 birthday, I’ll just get TSA Pre with my other credit card that pays for GE for free.

I've got a bad feeling I am going to become the new record holder..

I received an email that says that they have extended the time to use expired GE to 12 months IF you reapplied after April 17 this year.

>>If you submitted a renewal application on or after April 17, 2019 (before your current membership expires) or if you are current in the 6 month grace period, then you can continue to use your benefits (up to 1 year past the expiration date) until the renewal is finalized. We recommend you print out a copy of your TTP Dashboard showing that the renewal is pending to show a CBP Officer, if requested.<<

A CBP officer told me about the change to 12 months in June. Also said there was a 79 day backlog at that time and there were 18 people processing GE renewals.

Greetings
I waited 139 days for approval on a renewal application. Does anyone know if renewal status is accompanied by receipt of an updated Global Entry ID Card? I use the ID card to access expedited security lanes at Canadian Airports upon return to the United States.
Thanks

My global entry renewal requires an interview. No change in status with work, address, etc. anyone know why this might be? My husbands’ was renewed easily without an interview and he is not the frequent traveler, what should I expect?

Bad luck, random, or take your pick. What I’ve seen here makes no sense or reason. As to what to expect I can’t say but friends in Atlanta who renewed a few months ago had to interview and it took all of five or so minutes. Questions were the typical ones about their jobs and, in their case, their new address since they had moved.

In Renewal Purgatory

Submitted GE renewals for myself, my wife, and our daughter on 5 May, and we're all still waiting. I renewed my passport in the interim and, like previous posters noted, they will not let you update your passport info during renewal, so I am stuck in purgatory. I am traveling internationally next week, and am preparing for a multi-hour wait when I return to Dulles. They recently removed the Mobile Passport system from Dulles, so I have no other options.

You should be able to visit any GE enrollment center prior to your trip and update your passport (no appointment required - or possible). That should allow you to use GE kiosk upon your return as your GE membership is still valid for one year while a renewal is pending.

Thanks for response. And congratulations on approval!

So, it's months-to-your-next-birthday + 5 years?
I now wonder what happens if your birthday falls while you wait on approval?

My birthday happens to be in 5 days. Now I kinda hope they'll procrastinate few more days, and I'll get close to 6 years out of it! :)

Mine expires this week (I am on day 88), so I might get the extra year then! Woo Hoo?

The extension to 12 months is nice, I hope it does not cause issues when trying to use it. I have a trip just after it expires and a cruise in a couple of months, and I really want to make sure I get my pre-check and stuff.

New GE card will arrive in the mail within 2 weeks of renewal approval. If it doesn't arrive, call and report it lost, as they can get stolen in the mail like anything else.

No one is getting an extra year. Your new expiry date will be 5 years from the old date, regardless of how long it took to process.

Yes, we now have 12 months past expiry to use benefits, recommended you bring along a copy of your TTP site dashboard showing pending status. You should be able to do that at Canadian entry points.

Yes you can do a renewal interview upon international arrival, just check ahead to make sure they are open, as hours have been cut in most places.

I am starting to doubt the randomness of the long waits, as it appears that in couples or families who try to renew together, 1 person is always singled out for a long wait.

In our case renewals were submitted same day within 15-20 minutes of each other. We’re at 78 days with both still pending review.

Potentially dumb question, does your Known Traveler Number change when you renew?
