Does it take usually that long for renewal?
The good thing that my membership expires in January which gives me 5 more months to use TSA precheck.

I applied in late April and just got my application approved today. If you applied in May, it looks like you still might have to wait a couple of weeks.

Renewed wife, son and myself. All approved within a few days, so that's good. Of course, I'm the only one who needs a new interview, so yay me? The funniest part is that they just issue a new card with your old picture, so my son will have him as an 11-year-old at least until he turns 22. Might have to force him to get a DL at some point just so he has an ID with a recent picture.

i disagree. Based on the data points in this thread, it is obvious that renewals are not being processed in the order they were submitted. I see no correlation between when one applies and when the app is processed.

After following this thread for the last 9 months, it seems as though from provided data points that there's no correlation with one's personal data (addresses, places visited, etc.) or renewal date compared to the length of time to receive the renewal. For instance, there have been cases of spouses who've only traveled together and renewed simultaneously where one person receives renewal in days and the other is measured in months. What we don't know is how close to the expiration date people are applying for a renewal. Perhaps there is some process behind the scenes? Either that or one randomly gets stuck in the slow or fast renewal queue.

Another question that I haven't seen come up is what about those of us enrolled in reciprocal programs if the renewal timeline goes past the expiration date?

After reading the posts on here, I must be something of a unicorn. My GE expires at the end of October, so I filed my renewal on Tuesday (8/13) and got email notification tonight (8/17) that everything was renewed and approved with no need for an interview. This despite moving a couple times, a few different jobs, and several trips overseas. Either I got really lucky or working briefly for the federal government helped. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?

My vote would be to get the lottery ticket. I follow this and the initial application thread constantly and if there is any obvious factor in why some people are processed in a week or less and others have to wait and wait, I have missed it completely. I have read discussion on both threads that federal government employment/security clearance actually delays approval. Not saying that this is true, just reporting what I've read here.

Seems counterintuitive that Federal employment and an active security clearance would hinder the renewal approval. Indeed my wife is in that situation and her renewal has been stuck in the “pending review” status for 84 or so days. In her case she’s the civilian chief of staff to a 3-star general and pretty much under constant review and monitoring so you’d think that would be a no-brainer approval.

I am not saying it is a factor or if it increases or decreases review time. Just what I've seen posted. Just personal speculation, but if I were in law enforcement and/or national security, I would make sure processing times were random enough that it would be impossible to reverse engineer how/why things were done.

Well if that’s DHS/CBP’s goal then they’ve accomplished it in spades kind of. The aspect that is a bit baffling is there appears to be two extremes, you either get approved in days or it takes three plus months. I haven’t seen much if any middle ground here with approvals coming in the middle range of 30-60 days. More random seems to be the interview/no interview requirement which would fit with randomness.

My husband and I are on our third term of Global Entry. We have had almost the same travel the past five years. He was approved on applying for a new term. I had to have an appointment. We had a 3 hour layover in Ottawa yesterday, perfect for going thru the interview process. I had to wait roughly 45 minutes for the agent to be available. It was entirely about my fingerprints. I have minimal prints. I am online a lot and guess it has worn the prints down. He tried and I tried and finally with my lotion on my fingertips got something he was willing to have processed. He assured me that his supervisor would approve them. Sure enough, I received an email last night that my status had changed to approved.

I thought this was odd. My birthday is late July, and Global Entry is supposed to be good for 6 months beyond since I had applied. However, when I went thru Global Entry arrival, it showed expiration of 20 days. That was six months out from the date I had applied for the extension. Anyway, I am happy to have it done for the next five years with no need to consume half a day by traveling to the nearest office.

Day 116 and counting. Haven’t moved, changed jobs, or had any travel to questionable destinations.

My wife and I submitted her renewal on 8/15 and it was approved this weekend, so roughly 3 days. Mine is still pending at around 70 days now.

CallMeTex Aug 19, 2019 1:36 pm

I called sometime after 90 days to get expedited action. A few days later, I received conditional approval.

Now I have a different issue. I made an appointment originally for next week. Now I have a conflict. When I try to reschedule, all of the Houston, Texas, enrollment centers show no dates available. Ever. Anyone else seeing something similar?

For indexing and future search purposes, please discuss Global Entry enrollment interview availability in the following thread:

It is really disconcerting to see some getting approved in just a few days when me and others are waiting over 100 days, now (107 for me). There's really no pattern or logic to it at all.
