Does this also mean (more) Zoom interviews for renewals? Tried to find this on mobile but site is being difficult.
It seems like it could be a sensible way to conduct the interviews CBP thinks it needs to do. As for fingerprints that takes much less time - so maybe using Zoom will free up some appointments to allow for fingerprints where needed. |
Mine, my wife's and my 3 kids GOES was expiring in Nov and Dec of 2020. Applied for renewal in July 2020. Kids got conditional approval late January 2021 and I made appointments for them early February and got approved at the Ronald Reagan Washington DC center. Me and wife got conditional approval mid February and I set up interview on March 22nd at Ronald Reagan building. When I went there last time for kids appointment, all kids got done in 5 minutes. Not a single soul there except officers sitting there and talking and joking. The Officers at Reagan building are very jovial and easy going. Highly recommend

Due to my procrastination plus COVID shutdowns, I could not get my passport renewed before my Global Entry expired. And I guessed I could not renew GE with an expired passport. Hence, I did not submit my renewal request until several months after GE expiration. Finally submitted renewal request in Aug 2020.
Received approval (no interview required) a couple of days ago (exactly 200 days from submittal to approval) with no change to my FTN. For ms. jmd001 (who submitted her renewal request before her GE expired), it took 334 days! I was "happy" with 200. :D |

My GE expires on 3/6/22 so I decided to renew on my birthday yesterday to get ahead of the potential delays in processing. Much to my surprise I received an email that my application changed status. I thought the worse that I made a type-o in my application.
I logged in and was surprisingly shocked that i was approved in a bit over 24 hours from submission to notification of approval. Good luck everyone, I should buy a lottery ticket now. |
I applied for renewal on 3/8/21 and received notice of approval (effective 3/9) this morning.
Mrs. 1120 had a similar experience late last year. |

Finally got full approval for GE renewal on March 10 2021. Applied mid October 2020. Seems like they are making progress with the applications processing times.

Mine expired in June of 2021. I submitted my renewal back (2nd renewal since I've had it) back in January and got conditionally approved within 2 weeks and an interview required, which surprised me. The last renewal was approved without an interview.
I looked at DFW and IAH to see if there were appointments, and they were all 45-60+ days out. As I was in DFW recently, I checked the day before, and found the afternoon wide open with multiple appointments available, so I grabbed one. They asked me 2-3 basic questions, took my pic and fingerprints, and said I'd get an email within a week. I got the approval email before I got out to the parking garage, and my new GE card in the mail today. Overall, a pretty simple process except for the scheduling challenges. |
My wife, child and I did our first GE interview at an airport location 4 or 6 years ago and mine says expires in 2022 and wife's says expire s in August 2021. She didn't receive any renewal notice or letter although it says you can't renew until Aug of 2020. It has renewal option but when I l click on it it takes me to a page as if she is applying for new GE application and following notice. Can't she renew without an interview, will interview be required? She has zero criminal or any violations. Pls let us know what she should do. Thanks

No one's crystal ball can foretell how her renewal path will unfold. The site is essentially warning applicants that an interview MAY be required as too many people don't read the fine print. If she is following the RENEWAL link vs the new account link, she won't know the outcome until the fee is paid and a follow-up notice is sent out. If an interview is required, then it is what it is. She'll have plenty of time to schedule the interview as renewals now have a one year grace period from the date of application. Mine was approved in two days - no interview needed.
