Drop Down Calendar

One of the things I wish most for in the KVS tool is a dropdown calendar where I can pick a date instead of typing in a complete date.

Is such an enhancement possible?

Actually you do not need to put in the complete date.

If you put in for instance:

28 -- this will become 28 Aug 2005

10 -- this will become 10 Sep 2005

and if you put in

28 jun -- this will become 28 jun 2006

There are some shortcuts

Also it remembers the last few dates in your current session.. just click on the down arrow at the end of the date entry area.

And if you want to see a calendar, just double-click the time on the bottom right hand corner of your screen...

This is strange. I used the tool without problems on my previous computer. I just got a new Inspiron 9300 from dell, and everything works find until I try to get to seat map/book segment I get an error message and have to close the progarm.

Everything else works fine on KVS, ive uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Anyone have something similar happen?

Im using XP home.

Here is what is in the error report:

KVS,
The Download link is pointing back to this thread. You might want to update it to point to your web site
Thanks,

One request that I think would be a great enhancement to the tool is the ability to
either
(a) sort the Availability list alphabetically (instead of F C Y B etc.)
or, even better
(b) restrict the display in the Availability list to a certain fare code (that the user specifies at the time of searching). Another way to do this would be to highlight the specified fare code while still displaying the entire list.

For now, I end up copying the output to wordpad and then searching for Fare codes. It works... but is a crude way of doing the search for certain fare codes.

Thanks!

How To Download

* I have been getting a number of requests for a copy of my availability tool, so I thought I would make it available online:

Seems OK to me ?

I have set my preferences to sort messages in descending order (so the last message in the thread shows up first when you go to any thread). I think that explains why it doesn't work for me (am I the only one who chooses this sort order??)

Probably... I think that most people like to read posts in the order they were made.

Hmm... I find this sort order quite handy - when I click on a thread it takes me straight away to the couple of latest messages that were posted since I last read it (because they appear up on top). E.g., yours is the only message on this thread in the past 24 hours. It's so much easier to just get to it directly without having to jump to the last page.

Klm?

I tried searching this huge thread, but I don't see any specific mention to KLM. I'm waiting for my full version key, but does anyone know which, if any, show KLM upgrade buckets? D is the one I'm most interested in.

ALadyNCal Aug 27, 2005 10:01 am

No. I upgraded to the full version hoping to see KLM award availability (W) -- it doesn't appear. Just did a quick check (D) does not appear either.

PreferBulkhead Aug 27, 2005 3:45 pm

If it does not appear, then the airline does not supply it to the reservation systems. This had been mentioned by KVS a while ago ... the tool can only display what is provided ... have a look at post #2 in this thread ... the first part of the KVS FAQ where he provides links to the classes provided by the various airlines.

onlysuites Aug 27, 2005 4:29 pm

In my experiance i usually get only C availability for KL. See below for one i just earlier

KL872 DEL 00:50 AMS 05:50 M11 0 J3 C2 Z2

KVS does show KL's D and W buckets. Here is an example:

[KVS Availability Tool - Apollo: ITN/CWT/US-NY]

AMS Amsterdam-Schiphol NL [EHAM]
CPH Copenhagen DK [EKCH]
MA 29 aug 2005

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- --------- ---- --------- ---- -- --------------------------------------------------
KL 1125 AMS 07:55 CPH 09:15 737 0 J9 C9 Z9 D9 X9 S8 B8 M7 W6 K7 H7 L8 Q6 T7 E6 N6 V6
KL 1127 AMS 09:45 CPH 11:05 737 0 J9 C9 Z8 D8 X9 S9 B9 M8 W5 K9 H7 L9 Q5 T6 E5 N5 V5
KL 1131 AMS 14:45 CPH 16:05 737 0 J9 C9 Z7 D7 X9 S9 B9 M9 W9 K9 H9 L9 Q9 T9 E9 N9 V9
KL 1133 AMS 16:20 CPH 17:40 737 0 J9 C9 Z9 D9 X9 S9 B9 M9 W9 K9 H9 L9 Q9 T9 E9 N9 V9
KL 1139 AMS 19:15 CPH 20:35 737 0 J9 C9 Z9 D9 X9 S9 B9 M9 W9 K9 H9 L9 Q9 T9 E9 N9 V9

It is important to note, however, that closed fare buckets for KL flights are not displayed in any CRS. In other words, a fare bucket will either be followed by the digits 1-9, indicating that 1 through 9+ seats are available for sale; or by the digit 0, indicating that even though no seats are available it is still possible to waitlist; or not at all, indicating that no seats are available and waitlisting is not possible. Since it is not possible to waitlist for award seats on KL, this means that D and W will only be displayed if there is at least one seat available. You will never see D0 or W0.

Johan
