BTW I think we need to remember that this is a tool that is done on his own time ... so we should continue to appreciate whatever KVS provides (IMHO) ... I have sent in a couple of "donations" to the cause but will not be able to for much longer as I have to enroll in an KVS-addiction program :D (just kidding) |
I think Andrew Yiu would have a possible answer, that is if he is allowed divulge why.

I still use the Carlson Wagonlit ITN fare tool, through FT. I have not (yet) registered for the KVS tool.
As indicated elsewhere, I enter an overseas segment, connecting with a domestic segment. Then, the "I" bucket fare does show up. For example, I was entering YYZ -Beijing. Some of the YYZ-YVR flights displayed were of the previous night, to the YVR-Beijing flight. In this way, for Wednesday, I found out that there was no "I" availability on AC 1163, but there was I9 availability on AC 151 (before we took 3 of the upgrades, yesterday). However, I could not force ITN to show me "I" availability on AC 124 between YYC and YOW (I did find the availability on the connecting AC 214 from YVR to YYC) - on July 20 (I am coming back then), or July 27 (my wife/daughter are coming back then) - but I bought the tickets anyways because - those flights on Wednesdays had the cheapest tango plus fares of any individual flights/flight combinations on those 2 days, and ITN was showing J9C9 availability, so I guessed that the "I" availability would be high. The question is whether one can estimate the "I" availability based on J,C, and (perhaps) various economy cabin fare bucket availabilities? |

Just a quick reminder to all existing users of the Tool who may still be using outdated versions (i.e. earlier than V1.4.4) to upgrade as the previous version will expire in a few days.

Wondering if the tool is displaying data for these flights correctly. I thought it looked odd that my upcoming flight (AC 862) was showing *9 for every fare class. I went to Air Canada and tried to price a 'lowest economy' fare for this flight, and sure enough it came back with a B fare as the lowest. Any suggestions? All I'm concerned about is being able to upgrade two H fares.

BTW, the seat map is currently showing 36/41 seats available for assignment in the C-cabin, so your upgrade chances are looking very good... |
Great, thanks for the swift reply. I do have the full version, and did also try other methods -- Worldspan just happened to be the one I pasted into my message. I think I might have just realized why the AC site was only showing a B fare -- I also selected my return date (August 3rd), which has nothing below a Y fare, and I think you can't combine a Y with anything below a B? So, probably my mistake.

This Saturday YYZ YVR there is a 6:30am (1161) flight and a 6:40am (103) flight. On Monday when I wanted to change my flight to 1161 and then upgrade, I went to check KVS (Apollo: ITN/CWT) and it showed all flights except for 1161. Then I refreshed and it popped up. Then I refreshed again and it disappeared but yet all other flights for the day showed up. So I thought, whatever. I called the SE desk and asked for my flight to be changed to the very first flight of the day and the agent responds "I have a 6:40am as the first flight of the day"... and I was like "uh, isn't there a 6:30am flight 1161???" and she was like "I don't see it... oh wait... there it is...!"
So my question is, what's up with 1161 this Saturday? And why does AC have a 6:30am and a 6:40am YYZ YVR? Shout out to RC for his 100th post! :D |
