Is there a DNS problem with kvstool.com? I can't resolve the name on Rogers or on one other network I tried, although the servers at my office still appear to have it cached.

This appears to be an isolated issue with your network and/or DNS server(s):

If the issue persists, please try switching to an alternative DNS server (e.g. Google's public 8.8.8.8)

Thx, great news.

Help interpret a MCT?

For a connection from EK to BA at DXB, I'd like to check the MCT. Here's what I see:
Code:

                                              DD  DI  ID  II
STANDARD:        DXB                          020 060 060 075
EXCEPTIONS:
A/L              TR
-ALL-            2                            --- --- --- 120
BA              1
-ALL-            3                            --- --- --- 120
BA              1
EK                                            075 075 075 ---
-ALL-
**END OF DISPLAY**

If it matters: EK arrives at Terminal 3, BA departs at Terminal 1. As best I can tell, that's not one of the listed exceptions -- first exception is for departing flights from terminal 2; second for departing flights from terminal 3, third for departing flights on EK. Does that mean that the standard II MCT, 75 minutes, would apply?

Second exception applies: Connecting from any airline arriving in T3, connecting to BA departing T1, Intl-To-Intl = 120 Minutes.

Hi

Just signed up to this. How long does it normally take for the temporary registration code to appear. I am eager to get started!

Hi

Thats what I thought, but it has been a few hours now. Keep checking all folders in mail. Received 2 mails re: order confirmation saying processing, so email address must be right.

emhudd May 6, 2011 12:55 pm

sorted now thanks

Same with me... it's been about 15 minutes and received the order confirmation and receipt emails... but no temporary code.

Nothing in the junk folder either.

EDIT: Received, looks like it had to be manually forwarded to me...

Hi, I'm interested in trying out this tool but first want to make sure it does what I want (which I think it does). I read through the documentation, but it's pretty dense and couldn't find the answer to my one remaining question.

So I'm mainly interested in finding BA/Oneworld partner award availability and how much that award would cost in points+cash and fees.

BA.com is obviously BA-centric and finding how much certain legs from other partners would cost in points and fees isn't possible. I mostly want to know how much a flight would be with points+cash, since it's always a better deal than just points.

Also, can I assume that routing rules functionality will tell me what stops I can do on a BAEC award flight?

Yes, the KVS Tool supports Award Availability on all OneWorld member carriers (incl. BA): http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AwardUpgradeClasses_OneWorld

This information is available on the BAEC website:

If BAEC uses Routing Rules for validating award itineraries, then yes.

AceTracer May 11, 2011 2:06 am

Again, BA.com is BA-centric, so it won't give me flights for other partner airlines that fly the same route.

Thanks for the reply though.

You would only use BA.com for looking-up BAEC mileage (and cash) costs.

For Award Availability, the KVS Tool provides a much more comprehensive coverage.

AceTracer May 11, 2011 2:29 pm

Ok, sorry for not being clear enough.

What I mean is, let's say I want to figure out how much it costs in cash and points to fly from HKG to JFK using BAEC miles, including fees.

If I put that into BA.com, it will only give me HKG-LHR-JFK for 60,000 BA miles and $500.

I know for a fact that I can fly other routes, like HKG-NRT-JFK on JAL or HKG-AMM-JFK on RJ for 25,000 BA miles and whatever the YQ might be. However, I can't find what that is on BA.com because it won't give me partner airlines unless BA doesn't fly that route.

What I already know is that KVS Tool will give me award availability for RJ and JL, but my question is will it also tell me how many miles and YQ it'd cost. I'm guessing at this point that BA doesn't make this information available publicly.
