I'm a lapsed, multi-year Diamond user of KVS and am thinking about coming back to it (especially since I'm now self-employed and get to book my own travel, albeit in the back of the plane).
How are your experiences of the tool these days? I see that KVS is still active in updating it and responding to questions. (And no, I shan't be doing another comparison chart, that got me into big trouble last time!) Also, am I right in reading the coverage chart in thinking that the display of EK data is only partial? That's where I seem to spend a lot of my life these days, despite my dislike of bling ;) |

Understanding This Correctly?
Noob question...
I got KVS mostly to look for award flights. To be honest I don't understand much about fare buckets. I went online to book a flight YYZ-RDU outbound Nov. 2, return Nov. 4. The best option was on DL and it said "Economy (T)" for the flights in both directions. I went into KVS and searched for those flights and saw T7 for both of the segments on the outbound and T8 on both segments for the return. Does this mean that at least at the moment, there are 7 available seats on the outbound and 8 on the return in this fare bucket, and that if the fares don't change I am very likely to be able to book this fare tomorrow or the next day? Understanding of course that there are fare rules (two days from now would be the 21-day window) and that fares could change. How would I find the fare rules on DL.dumb? |

Yes, T7 and T8 mean there are currently 7 and 8 seats respectively in that fare class at the moment. I don't think you need to worry about the fares changing, but you could find that those 7 or 8 seats are sold and the lowest fare you can find is then in a different fare class which is more expensive. In the fares tab, if you double-click on a row you'll see an option to view the fare rules. Hope that helps. |
KVS does everything I want it to and the price is great. Only problem is no native Mac support but VirtualBox takes care of that.

That did it. Title bar doesn't show the "R2" though, just 7.0.7. I thought in previous versions the "R" number did show. Makes it hard to tell what version is running.

The "trouble" part sounds intriguing -- please feel free to share the details via PM or http://Contact.KVSTool.com/

Are you, perhaps, able to switch to EY instead (where the KVS Tool has exclusive Award Availability Coverage)?: ;) http://Help.KVSTool.com/#EY |

I'm only joking, I'm perfectly happy really. As all account-related matters are dealt with via PM or E-Mail for privacy reasons, a "YGPM" message does not imply a specific outcome with regard to the request.

I agree. Gad, for Diamond level it's only $6 a month and you can get get just a 6 mos. subscription for just $45. For less you can get a lower level, but very good version. Do you "coupon" seekers want it for free? KVS is great- my only little irritation with it is that it's quite slow compared with ExpertFlyer. I subscribe to both as each serves different needs of mine.

I just wanted to say thank you for this great resource. I just booked an award in C BUF -HAM RT. As I gave the agent my flt #'s, she was amazed that they all had award availability! Wow, she said, I wish all award bookings were this easy. I loved that I could check availability by several methods. I know I get the best results by "building" my ITN one seg at a time. Without this Tool I'd be lost. Thanks for all your hard work!

No questions from me yet, just happy such a tool exists for travelers. |
I'm trying to look up fares for BDL-LAX one way, but I get an error of "An invalid city has been entered" when using DotRes, and "?? ????? ????? ????..." when using PSH.
In fact, looks like this happens each time I search for fares on a route involving BDL. Other city pairs I had no trouble with, only BDL. Any thoughts? |

Kvs shows different availability to sabre
Hello!
I have been using kvs to check for a class availability on ek651 connecting with ek3 on 31st march. When ever I see the seats available on kvs I contact my agent only to be told the seats aren't there in sabre. The airline can't see them either. Any thoughts why they would be showing on kvs but not actually there? |

It's been a week for me, and as someone for whom flying is not part of their profession, KVS has been a let down so far. I only need to book one trip, one day, next summer and am almost regretting paying full price for Platinum (which since I just found this thread seems unheard of). I joined because the of the availability to see AB and IB awards on Oneworld that EF doesn't offer. However, KVS is seemingly showing it sporadically. There have been 2 times now that I have KVS pulled up with an AAgent on the phone and she's told me different availability on partners than what I'm seeing. And, both of these differ from what's on AA.com! So frustrating.
As a first time user, I must say that I haven't found it very user friendly. I'm trying to book VCE to MCO July 10, 11 or 12, Y or J, for 5. It's annoying to have to list each individual segment, for every combination, individually, every single time to check for availability. There are at least a dozen combinations! |

As for IB specifically, that airline is known to have system connectivity issues with its partners. In the meantime, for tips on dealing with Agents who may [erroneously] claim that there is no Award Availability when the KVS Tool shows otherwise, please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AgentSaysNo |

Thanks for that. I appreciate there are no A class now - but KVS was showing them earlier and my query was (appreciating they aren't there now) why is it than when KVS has shown them, Sabre still cant see them? This has happened on a couple of occasions with these flights.
I just wondered if it was a bug or something that I might be able to get a work around for. http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Factors Assuming your Agent is not located in the US, you can call EK US Reservations to take advantage of the more favourable POS US Availability and book the Seat(s) you see via the KVS Tool. |

It's not actually a bug, but rather a feature called Dynamic Availability:

As I am new to this tool I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here but when I search for availability the KVS Tool and the Mobile Companion seem to be giving me different results.

KVS giving lots of "??"
For the past few days, I've noticed the KVS tool giving a lot of "??" results when I search different routes. For example, DXB-SIN constantly has lots of them on SQ, and so does DXB-BKK on TG.
Here is one example: [KVS Availability Tool 7.0.7/Diamond - SNT: Awards/StarAlliance/JP-ANA-SP1] Code:
SIN Singapore Changi SG [WSSS] |

SIN Singapore Changi SG [WSSS]I'm getting the same - but on a UA (ex-COn) flight from EWR to BOM, where it shows FS?? on a 2-class config! However, if one does a revenue search, apparently UA has introduced an F-class bucket, which is very unusual...I wonder if UA is planning to convert some of these ultra-longhaul 772-LRs with an F-class as well?? |

The / is supposed to mean 'Cabin not Applicable'. However, there is certainly a business class on the 7420 flight (I have 2 booked). I keep looking for more J to open up (to no avail). So might the / mean that more might be coming, or should it just be considered CS-, and I'm wishful thinking?
