I tried today on KVS for LH711 for Sept 12 NRT-FRA and it showed 1 - "O" class seat. I thought great! I called USAirways and they said NO "O" class on their screens.
I didn't use M&M but normal search...frustrating.

US DM blocks LH F awards. I was told there is a whole thread on it in the US forum

Interesting as AP offers that exact flight in First (O) reward available.
Maybe it is only USAir DM that blocks LH first?

I was searching for J award between JFK and TPE. KVS showed CS+ JFK-TPE on CI19 on 10/20 and CS+ TPE-JFK on CI20 on 11/1. When I called DL, they couldn't see any CI J awards available on either date. Is DL blocking the J awards on CI?

belfordrocks Sep 10, 2012 6:13 pm

Look for blackout dates? There's a thread on it in the DL forum.

There is no 'maybe' about it ;)

Good point! However, no dates in Oct-Nov are blacked-out, according to the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...ll-2012-a.html Thread.

Those Award Seats should be available. For tips on dealing with Agents, who may claim otherwise, please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AgentSaysNo

I'm posting a sneaky request here to see if anyone can check availability for HND to ISG flying with JTA (code: NU) using BA miles on 12th October. Have tried several BA agents but they deny any award availability, whereas the JAL Mileage Bank site has plenty.

(One agent also said BA in the USA would have different award availability to BA in the UK... I am not having much luck with them and would prefer to be perfectly sure the oneworld availability is there before I try another handful of times.)

Thanks...

Does this mean that Sabre doesn't report any award availability for QF?

BA is currently experiencing connectivity issues with JL, so a Long-Sell may be required to confirm actual Award Availability on JL flights: http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AgentSaysNo

QF Award Availability is accessible via the [Awards/OneWorld], [Awards/JL-OneWorld] & [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Methods in the KVS Tool -- please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#QF for the most up-to-date info.

Thanks - that helps - I will try. One thing I do not know is whether the booking class for award tickets on JTA is different from JAL's and whether this might be affecting things.

Thanks again - got it booked - but my goodness, it was not easy. An hour worth of calls at least, many agents, many absurd claims, many random transfers to other departments, and then the final one asked, "well, I can see it - what was the problem"?

Hi,

How can I get KVSTool to search a date range (say 7 days) for BA Avios OneWorld awards?

Also, how can I check availability of partners on BA Avios awards? E.g. when trying to find availability EI DUB-BOS, the only options appear to be BA or OneWorld (with a list of airlines that doesn't include EI, since it's not oneworld)

Cheers,

-simon

You would start from the 1st date and then keep clicking the Next Day (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...arrow_down.gif) button until the desired Award Seat(s) appear.

For EI Awards, you would need to use the [Awards/OneWorld] Method, as per the table at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Classes

Oh, hrm :-(. I was rather hoping to be able to search a date range at once. It takes quite a while for a result to come through, it would be really useful to just click and let it work for a few minutes to collect all of the information I'm after. Any chance of adding a feature for this?

I suppose I could use applescript to automate the clicking process and capture the information, and display it nicely so that I can see the availability for a range. But...it shouldn't really be necessary for me to screen scrape a screen scraper! :-)

Hrm, any chance you can interpret this? I'm confused with the -, / and + and can't find an explanation in the FAQ (I probably missed it).

Yes you missed it in the FAQ

Look at the FAQ on "Interpreting Results - Availability"

- = requested number of seats not available
/ = cabin not applicable
+ = requested number of seats available

Week-long searches are currently supported for Star Alliance Award Availability.

This type of functionality is currently being considered for other Alliances as well.

SimonsMiles Sep 14, 2012 4:56 am

Ok, that's a functionality that would be great to have :-). I do understand that it would probably take longer to carry out the actual search, but the added value here is immense!

Thanks.

Question --

It appears that the KVSTool is returning flights that cannot be booked. I understand that any mistakes are due to the source system, but can you verify whether or not this is correct?

The relevant thread is here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...where-hot.html

As you can see, I've found availability on EI for five business class seats DUB-BOS. The BA agent I've spoken to can see them in his system, but cannot book them because EI seats aren't bookable more than 330 days in advance.

Is this hard limit true? If it is, perhaps you could enforce a "reality filter" on results from the source, where if it returns something that you know isn't true then you don't return it to the user...

It is not really a "mistake" -- if you are redeeming BAEC miles, then you are subject to any system/date range limitations of that programme (in addition to the Award Availability itself).

The "reality" is different for the numerous FFPs that support redemption on EI -- in your example, there would be no point in enforcing the BAEC (330-day) "reality" on QF FF members (whose "reality" extends to 354 days).

So you're saying that the 330 day limitation is a BAEC limit? The guy was quite happy to book me LCY-JFK BA flights at 339 days, and he said that they shouldn't have any limit other than those provided by the airlines...

BAEC's limit for its own flights and most partners is 354 days. However, it may have different limits for specific airlines (such as EI).

I'm brand new to KVS (just downloaded) but haven't signed up for Gold, Platinum, or Diamond. I understand from FAQ that Sabre:FS doesn't show AA availability. But If I sign up for Diamond it looks like pretty much everything is available one way or another. Is that correct?

Please consider this a strong vote in favor of adding this capability. I use OW with the JL method. The BA method seems to take 2-3 times as long for each search, and the straight OW method (as well as the CX method) doesn't differentiate between seats CX makes available to AM members and those it makes available to partner programs. Most often, I'm looking for CX seats. I've used the *A seven day search a few times for the AC miles I sporadically collect, and it makes the searches so much easier!! Thanks, KVS!!!

1. I was never aware that the CX award seats showing on KVS are not necessarily available to partner program members, such as AAdvantage. KVS- is this true and can you come up with a method which gets around this?

2. Searches using the BA method do take extraordinarily long. I thought it was me.

zozeppelin Sep 24, 2012 5:31 pm

Newbie, looking to make sure I am seeing this correctly. I am looking for US to LIM award ticket (focusing on MIA to LIM on LAN to use the sharing award class since AA is unavailable). I believe I should be looking for T class availability on LAN (X for AA) for the Standard award (so I can lump it together for 30k round trip). Now, I search oneworld awards for LIM-MIA on Oct 22nd and get nothing (both Oneworld and BA). When I look at availability I see a LIM-BOG-MIA flight with T class availability. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

MightyTravels Sep 24, 2012 6:51 pm

I'm hitting a strange issue with KQ NBO-SEZ 08/01/2013 return 08/06/2013 - AF Tool shows availability, Deltas shows nothing - would be great if someone with access could take a look for O space?

Thanks!
