The *A award checker is great BUT it could be even better. At the moment it only shows connecting flights if there are no direct flights. Could you get the tool to detect and automatically click on the "Connecting Flights" button on the ANA website, and so always automatically show us all the connecting flights?

OK I gave up and installed a new firewall and all is well.

Thanks for your instant answers as always.

You're welcome. Which buggy firewall was it (or should I just assume Norton? :)).

I'm an IT geek...It's almost ALWAYS Norton!

Interpretations of Fare Rules...

Hi KVS,

How do we interpret this rule?:

"NO HIP OR MILEAGE EXCEPTIONS APPLY"

As one does not wish to get caught napping by an *allowed* stopover, which airline agents themselves book for you, I wanted to find a resource for interpretation of fare rules, other than those *pricey* IATA guides! :p

Can you guide us here, or post some info in your FAQ/user guides?

Thanks!

It means exactly what is says -- i.e. all standard HIP and MPM rules must be complied with.

Just added this link to the FAQ: http://www.travelterminal.com/glossary.shtml

I am afraid I cannot bring back something that I did not take away in the first place...

The good news is that I am currently working on implementing a OneWorld award checker (see next post), so this should more than 'fill the void' for QF-ers ;).

A very welcome improvement, thank you. Do you think the same might be possible for OW?

Yes, I am currently considering adding such functionality to the next version of the Tool, assuming there is sufficient interest for that kind of a feature ...

Thanks KVS for the above clarification and for the link.

However, not too much detail there - anyone have any other resource on stopovers/HIP checks??

I almost got nailed before taking a flight to JFK, and 3 out of 4 AA telephone reps said that a "stopover" was allowed!

When the check-in agent said she needed to check with the fare desk, I was told "no dice", unless I wanted to pay $2200.00 for a refare, and this was with a practically *unlimited* (full fare) ticket!

Luckily I had a backup plan with a mileage ticket to use...but I could have used the sleep I lost when checking in for this flight so early!

Thanks - As much as I fly elsewhere on other airlines, that availability, especially on QF within Oz is a major plus!

There are actually a number of threads throughout FT that touch on the HIP issue.

If you are interested in a more in-depth kind of knowledge, then you may need to sign-up for a formal course on the topic of fare construction, etc...

Thanks for the suggestion.

This will be added to the next version as the [Max] option.

Can anyone help decipher this for an LH flight? I have looked in the FAQ section and done a couple of searches, but didn't find the key to these codes. I think I can figure 'R' is reserved, 'W' is probably the aisle, but not sure of the other codes.

Just pasted that front economy cabin from the 343.

This is the text Worldspan TravelASP:

OPERATES AS LH FLIGHT 481
LH481Y 07SEP A34 DENMUC AS 27 N 24
A C D E F G H K
24 R R W R S S W R R
25 R R W R R R R W R R
26 R R W R S S R W R R
27 R R W R . . R W R R
28
29 I B B I
30 R R E E E E R R
31 R R R . . R R R
32 R R R . . R R R
33 R R D . R R R R
34 R R R . . D R R
