Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
- Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
- Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS
To search AA upgrades:
- Use the Award & Upgrade tool
- Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
- To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

Sorry, I mucked up with my last message. I tried your flights for today, tomorrow and a random LCA flight for tomorrow with all returning errors on EF. However, I tried my Saturday flight on EF and bizarrely, that showed the seat map. Given the email notification issues we’re currently experiencing with EF, I’d say it’s probably them but then if you’re not seeing anything on BA either, it might be a mix of the two and BA may even have adjusted what people can see although this would be very strange if you’re checking in for a flight today or tomorrow and have yet to choose a seat. Sorry, I appreciate this is a bit of a non-answer.

Ok, so the seat map for my flight tomorrow morning is no longer showing on EF but my evening return on Sunday is so it must be a 48-hour restriction rather than 72. However, I just checked in for tomorrow morning’s flight and was able to view the seat map on BA’s site so it does feel as though this may actually be an EF issue which surprised me. EF ‘simply’ pulls through the available data so the question is given that it’s available on BA for tomorrow’s flight, why isn’t it available to EF? Everything else seems to work, including load factors which I tested against BA’s site. For example, EF says there are 4 seats available in CE for tomorrow morning so I did a dummy purchase for 4 seats (that was fine) and for 5 seats (not available) so they seem to be getting some but not all of the data. Very odd. EF peeps, you’ve gone very quiet - any comment please?

A valid check would be if you could access BA' seatmap e.g. through a through-check-in from another airline.
Several airlines (including Lufthansa, Condor, ...) have stopped publishing seatmaps around 48hrs prior to the flight. Lufthansa e.g. only keeps Business seatmaps available.
(I assume, but might be wrong, this is to avoid other airlines guessing the load factors)

Just because a Seatmap is available on the airline's website or during their check-in dialogue doesn't mean anything as it's not necessarily getting pushed through the GDS' any longer.

As for load factors and as I said earlier, these are still viewable on EFs site without any issues, including my flight tomorrow so no need for other airlines to guess.
Meanwhile and this is to the EF representative, when will we hear from you re the deluge of false email alerts?

For all travel classes with at least 9 available seats one would need the seatmap to do a more detailed analytics and that's what a lot of airlines have disabled so that others can no longer see how much more than 9 seats have flown empty or by how many seats a single flight in a specific travel class got overbooked.
For First and Business class this is still often still available as it doesn't matter that much than for Premium Economy and Economy.

BA Update:
Thank you for your patience. We are in close collaboration with our data providers to explore why British Airways has deactivated seat map selection 24 hours prior to flights. We will update you as soon as we receive further information!
