Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
  • Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
  • Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS

To search AA upgrades:
  • Use the Award & Upgrade tool
  • Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
  • To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

EF has been acknowledging this issue since the beginning of November, a week or two after it appeared.

And a change in how the GDS sends seatmaps was the cause of the issue. The display got broken on the GDS end.

The acknowledgement means nothing at this point since they won't fix it.

I've been noticing it particularly on the return direction of ex-US TPACs (e.g. HKG/SIN/SYD/TPE-SFO), but I think I may have recognized at least part of the issue, and it might be more widespread than those locations.

EF seems to be returning the fare class availability of those flights based on Point of Sale in that location (e.g. Australia, HK, Singapore), despite having US POS selected in the search criteria. (I compared a few flights on EF with what UA was showing on a one-way Asia/Australia-US and then it matched each time)

It does this no matter if I have US POS selected while searching as an ex-US RT, or as an HKG/SIN/SYD/TPE-SFO one-way.

If you compare availability for a return flight of an RT journey then the issie is more likely point of origin rather than point of sale. No idea how advanced is UA in discriminating by POI.

Has this been fixed yet? Not working for me today ("No results found" error) - just asking to see if the functionality was restored but has now disappeared again (or maybe I have some VPN-related/cookie issue)

Nope. TIMATIC is still broken. The site continues to deteriorate piece by piece.

I suppose, but kind of frustrating that EF does not display the inventory that UA is offering.

Set up a seat alert and airplane change alert for a Hawaiian flight in a couple of weeks. When I tried to make a schedule change alert, it errored out, saying the data wasn’t available. Make sense to anyone?

No, the question doesn't make sense. What is a "coyote of weeks"?

Coyote of weeks is what you get when you are sleep deprived and at 37,000 feet, taking advantage of HAs Starlink. 😀

I'm new to using expert flyer. I have a BA flight coming up (in 2 weeks) and the expert flyer seat map shows the plane 80% empty.

Is the plane really empty or does this just indicate there could be a lot more bookings that have not yet assigned their seats yet?

Basically I'm asking if there is no point looking at expertflyer for BA until T-24 or is it accurate months out?

BA does not allow free seat selection on it's fares, so it's not accurate whatsoever. I would check at 12 hours before departure when most folks have checked in.

Look at the flight availability and fare classes the airline is willing to offer for sale, gives a potential indication of how busy the flight is. Note, indication only. Better barometer than the seat maps, due to ba charging cash seat selection in advance of check-in.
