Thanks for your feedback.

Another question: I noticed that the XFAR category is quite diverse when it comes to vehicle size, as it lists BMW X5, Merc M and Merc GL. X5 & M are of course comparable but it seems strange that the GL would be in the same category as it is so much bigger. Anyone recently rented an XFAR vehicle and got a GL? Thanks

Hi,
any idea which brands and models Sixt currently offers in LAX in the IFAR/SFAR groups?
Thanks

Thanks, JohnRain, I'm aware of this list, but it usually doesn't reflect what the rental companies really have at their stations. So any first hand experience would be great.

What makes you say that? I've never rented with Sixt at LAX but on all other locations where I've rented, the cars I got always were part of the the list I posted (and the corresponding category)

JohnRain, most (if not all) stattions have just a subset out of a category, let's say in IFAR the Chevrolet Captiva, but never the RAV4 (for whatever reasons, fleet mgmt maybe).
So that's my question for Sixt LAX ... what do they have there?
Thanks

Indeed, that's why I always book a category where I can live with any of its cars.
I second your question, but for the XFAR category.

Thanks

I agree, that's what I do to get the cars I like to drive. But remember that not all of us are allowed to book X*AR (even not SFAR) because they are under 25 years old ... but still want to know what they might get!

Apologies if this brief review is posted a bit late, but I just came across this thread

Last year, Oct 2014, I rented a brand new (as in with 6miles!) convertible white SLK-250 from Sixt's LAX office (within the Reinaissance hotel) and found the car to be (as expected) excellent. Sixt's staff were also very professional.

And the best of all, the price, I think it was a total of 98USD for 2 full days, very cheap. These sort of prices (for this type of cars) is unheard of in Europe.

Cheers
J

Still the same

Total mess. Everyone is friendly but the system is a nightmare.

30 minutes to wait for the desk to deal with one customer. Then they don't have the car I reserved and need to wait an hour for car wash or pay to upgrade.

After insisting I don't want to pay anymore they upgrade me for free 4 phone calls and 20 minutes later.

Still waiting for the car and it's been an hour.

At Avis this would take 5 minutes Max.

Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experiance at the LAX location? I rented from the MIA location and they were great, upgraded from a BMW 3 series to a brand new 2016 Escalade, fully loaded. Not sure if I should expoect the same type of service in LA.

Then again I did reservce again LCAR, and from what I've been reading and researching, I might not get LCAR. Typically does this location run out of cars quickly? Will I have a problem upgrading to any class higher then LCAR if they do not have any car avilable?

Rented twice from LAX now, generally good experiences. First time I rented PCAR and upgraded to an SRX (no status at the time, probably because they lack PCAR), second time PFAR and got an SRX again. The second time they dispatched a limo to pick me up from the airport which was a nice plus. Renaissance shuttle isn't too bad, but they are small shuttles and once a couple of us had to stand because they had no space to sit.

That's funny because I rented an LCAR at MIA and the rep said "because you're platinum, I can offer you an upgrade for a total of $300 more". Instead I received an ATS because apparently they didn't have anything else available in that class.

Sixt has some nice cars at good rates but LAX is just too painful an experience to endure. It took us one hour to get a car. The front desk is an absolute mess with each customer taking 10+ minutes to get a car. The agent who served me said that they have cars available in the next category but just not for upgrades. What?
When I rent with ANY of the other companies i am in and out in less than ten minutes and the upgrade is automatic. Why can't Sixt do the same? They have all my data, I've got platinum status. They know exactly when I'm going to arrive. Why can't they just have a car ready for me that I can hop in and drive off with?
I do like Sixt and always use them in Europe but LAX is just way too painful an experience.
