Excellent service
I must say, that Sixt have surprised me in every way possible.
I arrived at the Sixt office, about 90 minutes late for my pickup.
There was about 5 minute wait before a CSR was available.
When it was my turn, they kindly informed that they where all out of XFAR cars, and asked if i wanted to upgrade to a G-Wagon, for $100 extra each day (My rental was for 20 days, so i said no) she looked a bit dissapointed, probably due to that was the only "upgrade" from a XFAR that she had available.
She asked me to wait, while she tried to find me a car (Im guessing calling to other locations in the LA area)
After about 30 minutes (now i started to get annoyed, a 13 hour flight and then this..)
Anyway, she came out to me again, and said that she had pulled some strings, and she got me a "nice car". She just had to get a manager to approve it, and collect the keys from the manager.
The car i got?
A BRAND NEW, Range Rover Sport. It had 2 Miles on it.
Not any kind of Range Rover, fully decked out, the big engine, all bells and whistles. That was worth the 30 minute wait!
In my excitment of the car, I forgot to add my girlfriend as a driver on the rental. So when i got to Vegas, i drove to Sixt in Vegas, and asked if they could add her. Once again, sixt solved our issue, without hassle. We didnt bring her passport, but the CSR went to talk to a manager, and they let it slide without a passport. After we had added her as the driver, they asked if i didnt want to leave the car with them, I could pick any car they had in stock, as long as they got to keep the Range Rover. They had a brand new Corvette that i was eyeing, but seeing as i was about to do some long haul driving, i decided to stick with the Range Rover.
All in all, a very good experience with Sixt, im returning the car in 5 days, and im gonna miss it!

wow, I am officially jealous! I had no idea they carried the RR sport in the fleet. What class is it in? Now I am hoping they don't have any XFAR for my rental next month

Had a prepaid (booked directly with Sixt through the Android app) PCAR booked at LAX but only offered a Camry or a Jeep Grand Cherokee (SFAR as we found out) offered and everything else was a paid upgrade. There were other vehicles (Corvette, BMW 440) but they wouldn't give us anything else. Claimed other vehicles were vans, etc. Asked the agent and she refused to budge.

They do. The email ID is here: http://www.statusmatcher.com/company/sixt
Sole trip is to drive PCH for the weekend and eat my way to OAK for my flight home.
Either that or a C class.

This might be a dumb question, but it is my first time renting a car outside of my home country.
I have booked a XFAR for 20 days in April. And since XFAR is the highest you can actually book, without going in to the real luxury cars like Mercedes G550.
What would happen if they dont have any car in my category? They cant really offer me an upgrade, since there arent any.
I will be arriving kinda late at LAX, and ive read that some places run out of cars in certain categories, hence my question.
Have anyone experienced this? And if so, what happend?

Anyone been here lately and seen what they have in the SFAR? I see that it says Acadia or similar with similar being an XC70 which I consider completely different types of vehicles.

What kind of vehicles do the MVARs tend to be?
How well equipped?
I am thinking of renting one as I had good experiences with EU Sixt but the LAX one does seem to have some bad comments, but then again, which airport based rental company doesn't?

Rental this weekend at LAX -- are car requests taken?
Hi,
I've rented only once previously with Sixt, and decided to rent an XCAR (BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac XTS) for an extended stay in Los Angeles (30+days). I'm picking up the car at 4pm this Saturday (8/20). I'd like to get a Mercedes or BMW and I was wondering if the LAX location accepts requests for a specific car. Above all I DON'T want to get stuck with a Cadillac like I did last time--they're just not for me.
Thanks for any tips.

A quick lookup yielded this. (Android)
Apparently you can select a vehicle in your class, 30 minutes in advance. Somebody already asked how. Bit curious how this all works myself, so please, share your experiences
