Probably XFAR or 1 class higher than XFAR. It might be like the Rolls where it cannot be booked online. Haven't seen the G550 though, but have seen the GL550 floating around.

XCAR Fleet at LAX?
After a couple of crap rentals with National at LAX, I bit on the XCAR offer at Sixt. No reports in the thread for what people got as a booked XCAR, and I don't have status.
Website says 5-series, E Class, Cadillac XTS "or similar", so how far does the definition of "similar" get stretched?

5 series, E-class, XTS, A6 are the only cars in XCAR.
A6 comes in nav and no nav trim too.

I booked for LAX using the sixt.co.uk website. I assumed the time listed was local time, so I set a 3pm pickup time. I logged into the Sixt phone app and was surprised to see that the pickup time is GMT, and that my pickup time is a full 7 hours before when I am able to pick up the car. Is this correct in time zone?

What was strange was that the countdown to the vehicle selection showed 0:00:00 for several hours (due to it being in GMT), but I was finally allowed to click select vehicle exactly 30 minutes before the rental (in local time).
So, while confusing at first, everything worked fine.

Hats off to the staff at Sixt LAX so far. Got a nice upgrade to a couple of month old BMW X3 booked as PFAR. Have a 29 day rental so makes a huge difference.
Pick up was fine, not difficult if you follow the instructions. The guys at the garage level were really helpful and there was no hard upsell on extras.
Cheers

Just wanted to follow this up now my rental has been completed.
The car was excellent and the rental went really smoothly, a hold was placed on my credit card for around 2k which dissappeared quickly once i received the final invoice a few days after the rental finished.
Given i received an excellent (premium) car, with no hassles or upsell at a price significantly lower than the mainstream companies i wouldnt hesistate to recommend!. It's actually nice to be surprised that there were no hidden catches !
Tip: the only pain is the shuttle to/from the location especially if you have lots of luggage as you need to move it yourself from the shuttle through the hotel up to the carpark (no baggage trolleys as far as i could see). Avoided this on the return by parking at the LAX terminal ($3/hr), dropped off all the gear then returned the car. Was heaps easier especially with young kids in tow and after 24 hours of flying.
Cheers

In any event, I'm sold. It was a nicely optioned XTS with 3k miles on it, and everyone was friendly and efficient. I'm probably down to Budget and Sixt in LA from now on.

I don't know if Sixt is carrying 2014's or 2015's (probably '14s) but the new Escalade is gorgeous inside and out. The interior bests Mercedes in MANY areas (but not all) and it has a very prominent presence on the road.
Myself, I am currently looking at a Mercedes GL63 AMG (yes I realize you are talking about the G-Wagon and not the GL class, but it was mentioned) and am seriously considering a 2015 Escalade Platinum over it.

Have you seen/driven the new 2015 Escalade?

NEVER using Sixt at LAX ever again!
Prepaid for a XTAR. Supposed to be BMW 4 or MB E convertible or similar. Nothing available on collection except for a Corvette which wouldn't fit luggage or a non convertible Mustang. Supposed to call back next day in case anything new came in - nothing.
Line also took 30+ mins.
Don't recommend and won't be using again.

The signage to this location is very poor. I drove around for 45 minutes having entered the address on my Sixt paperwork into the Sat Nav and eventually had to call into Budget who told me where it is.
Can I suggest that they put 'Renaissance Hotel' on the return locations forms so the problems I experienced could be avoided by others?

I got a really good deal on a Van, or hope to get upgraded to the escalades, but with all the review , seem as LAX has poor service... I try to call them, but no one ever pick up.

Better late than never.
Rented from Sixt at LAX back on weekend of April 18th. Was only my 3rd time renting from Sixt, but first time at LAX.
Shuttle was super easy to catch, as its same shuttle system that all the Hotels use (just make sure to watch for correct one, as the shuttles look the same other than their destination on the front screen)
Rental was simple, walked into Renassiance, walked about 100 feet to checkin. I had rented a PCAR (prepaid $178 for weekend), but they had none in stock so gave me the first option of getting a Volvo XC60 which I took. Great vehicle, was very clean and full of fuel, and really enjoyed driving it over the weekend.
Checking back in was simple, and a quick hotel shuttle back to LAX.
Thank you again Sixt for a great experience!

I have an LCAR res at LAX coming up. As a Platinum what should I expect as an upgrade. I haven't tried the new C-Class yet so I wouldn't mind my reserved class, but...
