I guess there is no way to see how full the aircraft will be in advance as a passenger.

Not as free services I know off. But there are paid services where you can check the free seats.

Is it worth it to bid?

Booked a LAX to CPH flight SK932, booking class Smart Plus, with purchased seats. Our aircraft changed and when I checked to see where my seats are for Smart, it shows all the seats are unavailable and we are no longer have assigned seats. So rather than waiting until check in to be most likely be downgrade a class. I'm wondering if it's even worth to bid for business class.

The minimum bid starts at $340, but when I checked ExpertFlyer it shows the whole business class is fullybooked but with 1 seat. I'm wondering why the bid is so slow when it shows not a lot seats left...

Do you think it's worth bidding say $500? Maybe it's worth the shot?

got the upgrade. Likely overbid as there were 5 or so seats free when I checked in just now. Got the news about 24 hours before flight. On the way home I’ll likely bid the lowest amount and see how that goes

With only 1 seat in business for sale, it is not looking positive for a bid upgrade. But I am guessing they are blocking some seats to even out their overbooking situation in PY.

I was on the exact same flight, almost a week ago, and the starting bid for business was 620 euro's. Min. bid price didn't move from week before the flight till end of bidding.

Good insight, so I should expect the minimum bid to go to maybe $700 USD a week before departure.
Sadly, since Plus is overbooked with the aircraft change, my husband and I are forced to downgraded and apply for a refund for our SAS Plus fare.

Interesting also for our case again (!). Booked SK Plus Pro HAM-CPH-PVG for tomorrow (back in May). Minimum upgrade bid was 900 EUR, then after a few weeks it dropped to 650, then to 410. At 410 I placed the minimum bid for two. t-6 weeks the minimum bid went up to 650 again.
Upgrade went through t-24hours.
I am EB Gold, so 410 EUR is worth 492.

On the return flight the min. bid never changed from 900 EUR, even though C is wide open.

Booked PLUS Bonus cph-BKK-cph

Minimum bid is plus to J for 450 or 27000p on the way to BKK

and 720€ or 32000p on the way back

I placed weak bids so I will most likely sit in Plus 😀🤣

cash prices for my flights in Plus would have been 1474€ and J at 2600€

I wonder how J heavy this route is

Does anyone have acces to see if SK929 from CPH to ATL on October 11th is completely sold out? We are 4 travellers booked in Go but bidding to upgrade at least to Plus. I am EB Diamond and thus have free seat selection. When I look at Expert flyer one of our selected seats shows as blocked not occupied? What does that mean? If I try to make a dummy booking at sas.dk it shoes only 1 seat available in all 3 classes. I guess upgrade for points is not very likely then? But they probably won't upgrade a party of 4 if they're overbooked? I have a bid in the upgrade auction which with Diamond Booster is pretty strong, but if there are no seats available that's useless anyway. What to expect? Thanks in advance for your insights :D

Yes, the flight is very full. Booking for 2 passengers is not possible:

Bid $400 for YYZ-CPH 9/8 and $440 for CPH-YYZ 9/18 Plus to Bus. Both successful. 321 was 60% full in Bus on both flights.

Success! Just received email from SAS that I got upgraded with almost minimum bidding! And also managed to reserve 1A, which has the best legroom in SAS A350 biz class. Cheers!

likely a good deal, hard to imagine there are that many people bidding but I guess I will find out later myself, congrats on the upgrade

Totally New to This

I've read this thread with interest.
Just booked a premium award ticket for next summer on SAS using Virgin Points. Unfortunately, flying blue wasn't showing the same availability.
Right now IAD to CPH showing 640 euro per person (2 pas traveling).

I know it is super early and I am seeing that the minimum upgrade price does tend to fluctuate. Here is what I don't understand:

a) Once you place a bid, can you change it?
b) It seems like booking in PE does not offer any advantage over econ... except at least I know I won't be in econ for the overnight flight
c) I am still not understanding the whole timing of check-in... it seems like if you check-in then you lose the ability to do something regarding the upgrade? (again this is super far off)
d) It seems they have a fixed price for upgrades (non-bidding). When do those become available? I am sure it will be more than 640 euros
e) It seems like there is no way to get SAS eurobonus miles as a US citizen (the raddison transfer has closed). SAS eurobonus actually has biz seats open.. but no partner availability :(

Appreciate any insight

b) It seems like booking in PE does not offer any advantage over econ... except at least I know I won't be in econ for the overnight flight. I don’t know for sure but I suspect this is correct. They do give priority to club status members using points and possibly cash.
c) I am still not understanding the whole timing of check-in... it seems like if you check-in then you lose the ability to do something regarding the upgrade? (again this is super far off) You can upgrade at the airport if there is availability. They will have a fixed price there. You can also upgrade until check in.

d) It seems they have a fixed price for upgrades (non-bidding). When do those become available? I am sure it will be more than 640 euros. Not necessarily. We upgraded at airport for 569 usd last time. Online bid was rejected. That was Ewr to Arn. However summer flights will be higher demand.

e) It seems like there is no way to get SAS eurobonus miles as a US citizen (the raddison transfer has closed). SAS eurobonus actually has biz seats open.. but no partner availability :( No idea on this.
