1 more question: when I bid for an upgrade and the bid will be accepted, will I get the miles and XP from business or originally booked premium?

You earn based on your original booking class. You get extra EB bonus & level points with a successful bid https://www.flysas.com/ca-en/eurobon...vian-airlines/

There are people on this forum whom I believe are in the travel business that have access to actual seats available on a particular flight. If you want an accurate count perhaps post and see if anyone replies. Or call SAS and see if they will tell you.

You were correct, there are about 8 business seats left for my LAX-CPH flight.

I just got notified of my bid upgrade T-24.5 hrs.

Congrats on securing the upgrade. The lie flat seat is so nice to have for an overnight flight. Business class seats on my mid-June flight to CPH are sold out, but I see 13 seats available for selection; meaning a lot of people like me not willing to pay 100-130 euro per segment to select a seat. I've flown long haul business in VS, LX and even sister airline AF and not had to pay for seat selection.

Thanks, when they upgraded me, they assigned a seat at no cost but I changed it to 8H for bit more peace.

Normally I pay around $2000 each way on business for Asian long hauls on *A.

So this upgrade was well within what I normally pay.

My return leg will be a bid for Premium Economy as it's an all daylight flight.

$2k each way for Asian long haul business is a really good price. Are you doing it through upgrade bids?

Depends quite a bit on what type of fares you book but with most airlines, seat selection now comes at an additional cost, unless you are holding a high status.

If the bid system says my bid is #2 and the flight is C5 I should have a decent shot at the upgrade, no?

No high status with any of these 3 airlines. Haven't looked to see if policies have changed but travel was during 2023 and 2025 period.

I reckon they have changed quite a bit in recent history, unfortunately – LHG charges for ASR now, so does AF..

Yep, AFKLM have been changing since then. I've been on AF 3 times this year, longhaul in J + Y and shorthaul Y. In J, I could select any seat. In Y only back seats and no emergency row. Tried reaching out on Whatsapp, but even they couldn't do anything (with STE+ / EBD)
