Is it just me, or did the live bidding in the last 24 hours seem a bit shady?
Here’s what happened: we were bidding on a trip from CPH to HND a couple of days ago. Both of our tickets were originally in Go, and we placed separate upgrade bids — 17,000 points for Plus and 36,000 for Business. At T-24, we were informed that our bids were unsuccessful, and the live bidding process began. Since we had two tickets, we were monitoring the bidding status on two different phones — but strangely, the “current highest bid” displayed was different on each device. In the end, we increased both bids to 55,000 points, which were placed at 2nd and 3rd position respectively, as one of us has Gold status with a 20% higher bid. Both bids were accepted exactly at T-6. During the live bidding, only our business bidding was mentioned, like we had never bid for Plus. Any thoughts? |
The fact that the T&Cs says that the purpose of the live bidding is to gamify the bidding process should give the answer to your question.....

The fact that they were later selling the final two seats in C for USD 400 less than the leading bid is instructive...... One of them was given away about 90 seconds after I declined getting two for USD 670 each.
Remember the good old days when a Plus to Business upgrade was 20k miles at the gate? Or was it even 10k? I think that was Eco to Plus. My next flight is going to be interesting. It showed C6 Y6 E7 about a week ago. Only about 7 seats taken in C. Does any non EBG actually fork up the USD 140? Min bid for Plus to C is USD 350. It dropped from 500 something at 60 days out when Go and Plus were very cheap but cheapest C class was somewhat elevated. Methinks that Go is wildly oversold. |

Does anybody have the merchant category code for a SAS bid paid in USD and/or Euro? Trying to figure out what card to put it on.

Not sure i'm in the right place but some advice needed. I looking for a round trip ticket in december this year on the route BRU-CPH(layover)-LAX and LAX-CPH(layover)-BRU.
I found some economy ticket for 500-600 euro (round trip) or plus ticket for 1100-ish for plus. Go for the plus fair or book the econoy my try to bid? I don't i have enough point to go for a successful upgrade bid so i have to use money. To break it down it's gonna be max 250-350 euro per flight (only the trip from CPH-LAX) if i book the economy. |

If I understand that you want the best chance to upgrade long-haul segments between LAX and CPH, then it's very hard to give buying advice. The ticket you buy today will not significantly affect the upgrade chances later. |
Round trip BRU-LAX with a layover in CHP. Was a typo, i've corrected the post.

Can you clarify what you mean by a round trip? That is not a round trip.

What are the chances i get an succesful upgrade from economy to plus on a longhaul flight between chp and lax if i bid max. 300 euro? |

Probably low. How close is it to the Christmas travel peak, and what day of the week are you travelling?

Minimum bid 5,000 EB points to upgrade to Plus for LHR-CPH was rejected earlier this week. Plus seemed full.
Minimum bid was DKK 400 or 5,000 EB points |
CPH-IAD C4Y4E3, massively oversold in Go. For four people I bid $417 with $350 min and received upgrade immediately at 24H, I think. I checked three hours later. Still 18 empty seats in C after I changed my seats at T-18.
Clearly, I should have kept my original $351 bid. I do think that the system assigns seats after the upgrade, or am I wrong about that? |
How much to bid?
How much should I bid to upgrade from premium economy to business tomorrow on SK916 JFK-CPH? I am new here. The starting bid is $380 and expertflyer says there are 14 unreserved business class seats now, around 24 hours before departure.
