SAS Plus - I can only compare with my most recent stints with DL and AF: I think it's a small notch below those 2 in terms of flight experience. The other 2 has leg rests which make a difference for me. Food is on par with those 2, which means it's more "Economy" than "Premium." No amenity bag - Again, the other 2 offered them. Wasn't very bothered about the 1 pass for drinks - I was able to get 3 drinks. I only paid $890 for the BOS-CPH R/T so it's definitely massive value, and even though I would have had lounge access by other means (ST Elite Plus) I appreciate that they give Plus Pax lounge access.

SAS Business - Most of my past few J's have been DL as well, and I think it's on par. I liked the unique meal presentation, which is awesome because I was sure I was going to get the fried chicken thigh until I saw it and switched to braised beef. Lots of continued refills of drinks, bread, and coffee/tea. Similar seats (Thompson Vantage XL?) to Delta One, though as mentioned the bulkhead with larger footwell is a bit better.

On both I appreciate the Scandinavian spirits offerings - I liked the High Coast Whisky! Some reviews complain about IFE choices but I don't usually watch a whole lot of movies/TV.

Edit - maybe I misunderstood the question - both are worth it for their categories overall. Business being a bit better as a J than Plus as a PE product. Whenever I fly SAS again I will always be on the lookout for a Business upgrade - it's a fantastic deal.

LAX - CPH
Bid 40k points for Plus to Business, i.e. with EBD booster 52k points. Min bid was 29k points.
Ranked 4th during live bidding, max bid was just over 57k points.
Got upgraded directly when live bidding ended.

I and my son both got food poisoning from the second meal in Plus ex CPH in 2022. It was a salad with either gravad or smoked salmon. We both had norovirus type symptoms. The other two in my party did not get sick but they were getting food from a different FA as they were in the middle section (the middle seat of the 3 was empty so the opposite aisle was serving them where the adult was seated) and I am not sure if they ate any of this food. My youngest son would not have.

Overall Plus is a bargain. This summer the cheapest equivalent on the *A carriers is $1600 R/T but you can get Plus (could have gotten) in the $1100s ex USA. But Business is also cheaper than *A cartel by $500ish. Also this winter they had tickets for $1500 R/T ex Scandinavia in Business.

Note that Plus longhaul no longer gives lounge access as part of their realignment where they are eliminating Plus outside longhaul. So it is back to 2001 again when they got the first A340s.

Wootles, could you give me the "numbers" on Expertflyer for SK 926 on July 9? Would be much appreciated. :)

p.s. What is the current typical min bid for Go to Plus. I would never risk that but a friend was asking me. I guessed $100.

Looks like 18 seats remaining

Thanks, but I was hoping to get the booking class codes like C9D9P6 etc. I am curious how you arrived at 18? The seatmap has 33 seats available of which 3 could be bassinet blocks:: 1H, 9A and 9H. It had 36 last time when I looked around the time of booking. For booking classes the highest number shown is 9.

Thanks a lot – I'm possibly looking to do a Plus-Business combo as well, Plus for the daytime flight and Business for the overnight :tu:

They can't know that. The only way you'd know how many seats are open is if you have access to the loadfactor (have to know someone on the inside :P ) or if fewer seats than 9, which would give C8 and so on. But at that point, you can also just use their search engine.

That's why I am curious about the 18 seats. I used to have inside information until about 2006 but then my source retired. :) There are now 8 tickets in C for sale at the lowest price (ca. USD 1500) so that should correlate with Z8 or whatever the lowest booking class is these days. It's also interesting in Plus that they are selling 2 seats at the lowest price ($5XX, P2?) and shows 6 seats at a higher price point ($7XX) but only 5 seats on the seatmap and I did not buy anything for 4 seats. So quite oversold and best case it would have 3 open seats (assuming that the front row A and H are blocked bassinet seats.). Counting seats on the seatmap doesn't work anymore, but in this case noteworthy that there are very few seats on the map in Plus and very few taken in C. I suppose that there is a stronger incentive to buy a seat in Plus on the A350 due to the 2-4-2 config.because people want to avoid a middle seat or avoid the middle section in general.

Obviously, SAS pockets the payment for the seat in Plus if you get a purchased upgrade?

gnaget Jun 21, 2025 1:19 pm

A datum point for CPH-IAD. I think the trigger was the date of the flight is now less than 2 months: the min bid went from USD 750 (I think ) to 350. So the min bid is lower than the outbound (380), which seems to be wide open in business. This flight from CPH was relatively expensive if booked in C class, so sold out in the cheaper fare buckets and therefore a reasonable number of seats sold.

Want to repeat the question about purchased seats. I would definitely forfeit the circa $240 that I would spend on 4 seats in Plus if I get the upgrades? This system of charging for seats in premium cabins is annoying.

Level points vs XP for upgraded flights

Trying to decide between Eurobonus vs FB in terms of getting status based on some upcoming flights. My understanding that with SAS the upgrade from Plus puts us into business in Z class so we would get Level Points based on that class of service. What about Flying Blue? Would we just get XP based on the original booking in "Premier"? We would nearly get silver (from zero) with FB with our upcoming flights on SAS if we get upgraded and earn XP for business.

A generous aspect of FB is that you get a lot of XP points for Plus (Premier) on a shorthaul, but conversely get the same for a long intraeurope flight up to 2000 miles. Actually, SAS is not that generous for medium haul either if you are in an average Plus Pro category, but only 700 points for CPH-ARN in Plus Smart.

However, I wounder how FB will treat Eco Flex in the future. Standard XP economy earnings?

Can you please give the source of your claim?

Your information doesn’t align with the information of the SK earnings table on the SK website.

It was the case years ago that you got points based on the upgraded booking class. That was replaced by a relatively modest extra earning if you upgrade via a cash bid. 3,000 points from Y to J long haul as the highest. But this is only for EB earnings.

So no status (level point) benefit whatsoever today? I thought that (from the upgrade bidding thread) that the class changed to Z, but that must have been years ago then.

gnaget Jun 21, 2025 5:47 pm

A follow up question, if one person in our family gets EBG then how many passengers in a reservation can select seats for free? It's so annoying to have to pay USD 600 extra to select seats in business for a family of four.

Bad wording from me, level points and bonus points.
