CPH-HND
Plus to Business ✅️
Bid: 38001 + gold boost

bid the lowest bid - 27,000 originally and was outbid 24 hrs before the flight. It then went to live bidding but I could see there were still 14 seats free in business. Moved my bid up until I was in place 14. Seemed to work (or at least i was fooled), bid confirmed at +5 hours before flight.

Checked at the airport and an airport upgrade is 35,000 for CPH HND.

A new data point (from last year): IAD-CPH bid accepted at EUR 550

Food and flat bed was terrific!

I am looking at the SAS cash upgrade incentive per the SAS website

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fc3d460dbe.png
I had a business class uprade accepted from ARN to CPH....this was marketed as EU Busines class as it was international within Scanadanavia. Per the chart - it appears it should award 500 Bonus/level points.

However, it appears it continues to post under the old program as "SAS Plus" and only 250 bonus/level points.

Anyone experience this too? It appears SAS has been shortchanging people since Oct 1....

You don't get any updates until ~1 day before departure when they will confirm if you got upgrade or not.

If you didn't get upgrade, you might go into live bidding for the last ~24h, where you'll get a "spot/number" saying which place you have in terms of bid (This seems to be BS from SAS though), and each time someone outbids you in the live-bid, you'll get notified by email/text.

So a day out, SK will say yay or nay.
Then if I still wanted to upgrade, there's a live bidding system ?

Hoping my "medium" bid for business goes thru the day before....

that’s a steep price for anything in the SAS network

Yes, but considering a one way cash biz ticket is 4000€ on a 11 hr flight plus I want a lie flat for the red eye night flight - I think it's worth it ?

Usually I fly Asiana or JAL to Asia in business class (2000€ each way) but never as what SAS charges.

If I get the upgrade, it's what I'd pay.....

asiana and JAL are a lot higher service and food product than SAS. SAS is fine but more comparable to BA over JL

Flying CPH-ORD today and the flight has been C8 Y9 for several days. Min bid was 8000 sek, so I bid 8100, which should be 10530 with my EBD bonus. Live bidding site said I was ranked 3rd with a top bid of 9402 sek. As bidding drew to a close I was outbid twice, dropping to 4 and then 5 with the top bid unchanged. Then the top bid climbed a bit more and I stayed at 5 until it ended.

About 5 minutes after bidding ended EF showed C5 and I got the upgrade notification and was able to move the assigned seat to one of the 5 open ones. A few minutes later EF showed C0 and all the seats except one are selected.

Based on the earlier activity and the fact my upgrade was processed in the first batch, I think my bid plus EBD bonus put me in the top 3 even though the live bidding site did not reflect that. I have been using EF to inform my bids for a while now, but this is the first time I have watched so closely.

Lots of anecdotes from the Swedish forums where they've travelled in groups (different bookings) where people with lower bid has gotten upgraded than the other, even though they've had same status. So people are calling the live bidding BS, and more about lying to customers to feel FOMO and bid more... Kinda sad

I have no doubts that there is a sizeable element of BS to it and it's undoubtedly meant to extract cash from our wallets but seeing my ranking in addition to using EF to see the availability has proven to be a successful combination for me (EBD) and my SO (EBG) on the last 10ish TATLs. We bid 100 sek above minimum and only raise the bid if we're further down the ranking that what EF shows.

What interests me is who the heck bids 200 000 points for an J upgrade on CPH-LAX 😁 My only experience of bidding, did not raise my bid of 30 000 or so from Premium.

I guess if you're sitting on a huge pile of points, why not? Many people run all their company expenses through SAS-branded credit cards and rack up hundreds of thousands if not millions of points, thus the acquisition cost per point is next to zero, and thus so is the upgrade cost to J on CPH-LAX for 200,000 points :)
