I've increased it a couple of times from 320 to 340 (both Weak) to 360. May be overbidding as the minimum has stayed at 300 EUR but I really would like Business on the eastbound. Going to stay put at that bid though. Won't be too bummed if I lose as the Plus fare was bought on sale quite cheap and I did reserve the bulkhead with the leg rest so I am already ahead of the game.

EDIT 11/15: Brought the bid up 10 to 370 EUR where I am really staying put, lol. I am cautiously optimistic with it just 8 days away now...

So to update - did not get the upgrade, email said I was outbid. Ah well, at least I got a leg rest Plus seat, so hopefully will get some sleep on my flight, which is delayed 3 hours. Fortunately, they sent the delay email a couple of hours before I had to leave home, so have been chilling at home (incoming is 3 hours late as well, so no possibility of the flight moving back up much). Will experience the SAS lounge at CPH on the way back in any case.

I received a similar email 4:40h before departure on my return leg with J6 still showing for the flight so Plus it is, I wont do a airport upgrade I get to test out plus now.

plus is showing 2 empty seats anymore with a Y9 😂. So 50% success with minimum bids for me Only thing I will miss is priority immigration :)

I have a GO Smart ticket and was offered to bid for upgrade to Plus and Business. I would like to bid for both classes, in case if I don't get Business, then Plus will be good as well. I tried to make the bid and only allowed to bid on one other other. May I know if there is a best way to go around with this option? Thanks.

What would you recommend to bid for MIA-CPH in points? Current min bid is 22k, and I have put up 29k with gold booster.

There is no general recommendation. I've had lowest bid accepted and I've had lowest bid refused. Try to check booking situation in the class you wish to upgrade to and adjust your bid accordingly.

Thanks! Normally it is a high competition route for upgrade... so go big or stay humble 😁

SAS Bidding on Business Class

This is my first time flying with SAS and try to put a bid on business class. According to SAS, minimum bid is 1 010, is it means minimum bid is $1,010.00? Will they lower the bid when it is closer to departure date? I am flying in May of 2025. How can I check whether they have seats available in business class. Thanks.

Ticket / booking class change with winning bid?

New to SAS, since I'm a SkyMile medallion I never looked at SAS. But now I'm flying to ARN and my curious about the MQDs equivalent I'm going to get.
According to my seat class (A and P, I'm flying SAS Plus aka PremiumEco), I'll get 20% of flew miles as MQDs, so roughly 2,300MQDs. Pretty good deal.
Flying business will bring me the same ratio of 20% so not worth for me except if I can get a upgrade for cheap... (I'll try for fun).
But my question is for when you fly eco (so tickets E, M, H... and all the others), and win a bid. Does your "new" upgraded ticket come with a J, Z, C, or D or does it stay in the class you initially bough?

It keeps original booking class.

CPH-ORD booked Go Smart, upgrade to business accepted for 45000 points (11200 kr) with Diamond boost which was minimum bid. Min bid climbed to 47000 or 11680 kr in the week before the flight. Load was C9 before bid accepted and C9 after bid accepted.

Colleague also had a bid to plus accepted for 20000 (3900 kr) with Silver boost with Y9 before and after.

Wow... expensive! I have an upcoming PE flight in end of Jan to/from Miami and upgrade to biz is 29k /3400 now. I have bid 33500, but I assume I will have to bump it up at C8.

dark_phoenix Jan 13, 2025 3:50 am

I have a flight in PE scheduled for tomorrow for CPH-BOS. I put in an upgrade to C for 30k points (min bid was 23k).

I know that the minimum bid in points from Economy to Business was 44k points, so I wasn't willing to go anywhere near that number.

I expect my bid to fail, but because it's from Europe to the US and a daytime trip, I will make do in PE if needed.

Seems like they have 7 seats left in Biz and 2 in PY, so definitely some competition from other PY-PAX. But usually EU-US flights have better success rate with lower bids (at least what I've heard from friends and seen in Swedish forums). Let us know if it goes through :)

About 20 minutes after my post, the "I won the bid" notification came through. So just about 12 hours before departure.

Honestly, I am shocked. I have never had a successful bid from PY to C. I have >90% success rate with Y to C. I have always assumed that is because they are getting more cash from me to upgrade from Y to J than PY to C.

Before winning my bid, I took the last available seat in PY. So now that there are two available means that someone else probably won their PY to C bid early as well.

Was 30k too many points? Probably. But I still have a ton of EB points (without the million from the contest) and I am crediting my original classes of travel to Flying Blue anyway (for which the XP is more important to me than the mileage bonus), so I didn't want to spend cash. Decent compromise all around. 🙌

Any indication if this is the typical timeframe? I am now within the 24 hour window of my flight booked in Plus, but have neither the "outbid" nor "you won" eMail. Is SAS really waiting until almost the last minute before deciding on the bids?

Greetings - Dirk
