Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

Just for kicks :)

Similar situation @ JFK last month, but the check in staff said the cabin was full so no point moving to the double seat.
So the seat selection rules for solo travelers don't always apply .. perhaps it opens up to all a few (05) days before departure?

“Reverse” bulkhead qsuites questions (footwell/legroom)

Hey all,

Has anyone here used any of the “reverse” bulkhead qsuites, like a rear facing bulkhead. They would be seats 9A/K on the 351, 9A/E/F/K on the 359, and 11E/F on the 77W/77L. My biggest question would probably be the size of the foot wells compared to other rear facing qsuites (since many times bulkheads can have larger foot wells ie. A330). But it could also lead to less leg room and storage ie. old 77W/77L seats. Im thinking of assigning myself one of these seats on an upcoming qsuite segment, so I’d figured I’d ask you guys. If any of you all have experience with any of these seats I’d love to hear about it!

Cheers!

Just booked my first two Qsuite flights:
QR832 - DOH - BKK 19 June 2019 A350
QR833 - BKK - DOH 4 July 2019 A350

All available seats, including middle pair seats, are selectable online.
Chose 4J and 5K (day flights so we would like window seats) outbound and 1E & 1F inbound (night flight so window doesn't matter). Any thoughts?

Let's hope they don't swap aircrafts 🙄

However two a/c BBF and BBH have been on a regular rotation to Auckland. They haven't been out of service for longer than a day or two, so I'm certain they have not been converted. With Qsuite conversion taking 3+ weeks and Auckland the last destination to receive continuous Qsuite, there is no certainty for another month or more. Until then you could get lucky with another a/c turning up at 5 to 10 day intervals. The a/c rego is not known until the day of departure from Doha.
BBF hasn't flown since the 21 May according to FR24. Fingers crossed it's in for a refurb leaving only 1 non refurb aircraft on the AKL route.

From the 31st May the 77K (Qsuite) will be full time on the AKL sector. Check out the Qcargo 'check routing' web page.

The back story is from the 1st June IAH will get the A350-1000 instead of the 77K, which frees up two aircraft for Auckland.

I haven't bothered to check EF to see which equipment you are scheduled to fly, but if it's a 777-300, I would book 3EF or 5EF rather than 1EF because there is no overhead bin over 1EF on a 777-300 (the space is used for the flight deck crew rest).

Found the site (finally!) 2nd and 9th June still showing B777, the last unrefurbed 772 likely. I didn't look further along the calendar than that. Still, the odds of getting Q suites have increased exponentially with BBF being hopefully in the shop.

Edit: ok I looked a bit further it appears ~ 4-5x/month including up to 13 October.

Only 5 days ago it was showing all 77K. Just shows again and again you cannot trust QR allocation until the aircraft is at the gate. Sigh.......

But you do understand that QR is not the only airline with this problem, yes? It just seems worse with QR because people really want the QSuites. Try flying CX between HKG and BKK sometime. People don't complain about it on FT very much because so few people care.

Earlier yesterday I was booked from HKG-DOH on Qsuites. The aircraft got swapped last minute to a non Qsuites. I called up the call center to attempt a change, they said I had to pay a fare difference. Then I messaged QR on twitter, who told me that I was allowed one free change within the next 14 days, so I asked them to move us (we were 3 - 2 paid J and 1 Qcredits upgrade). I asked them to change it to the next flight (which was Qsuites), and they promptly changed all 3 tickets without any issues. Was really impressed with QRsupport on Twitter, very good service!

I agree this isn’t a problem unique to QR, but that’s not a fair comparison - you’re comparing a shorthaul route where CX are just using up spare frames to a longhaul route with advertised Qsuites service. CX don’t go switching their product on LHR or SYD. If QR drop Qsuites on CMB or MCT I agree passengers should just suck it up, but on a longhaul route it’s definitely much more subject to QR’s whims than almost any other airline.

Just took my (first) Q-Suite flight from DOH which was very comfortable. However, I noticed on landing that the inner pairs had white seat covers that seemed to fit over the head rest and look to make a more comfortable bed. Can I ask for these in a window seat? I didn't see any of the window seats with them in the hour before arrival.
