Hello,
I have an upcoming business trip that will require me to make a round the world routing. Our travel agent here at work currently has recognized it will be a round the world routing but plans on issuing 3 separate tickets (Qatar, Cathay and Air Canada). I would like to have it all booked with OW carriers to maximize my tier points and also to "sell" it to our travel agent as hopefully being a cheaper option than what they are currently quoting (which is about CHF 8400 in business). The basics of the routing are: GVA-HAN (currently booked as via DOH on QR which is fine) HAN-SYD (currently booked as via HKG on CX, also fine) SYD-YYC (currently booked via YVR on AC which is the problem) YYC-YTO (currently on AC, also a problem) YTO-GVA (currently on AC, also a problem) I've seen some of the more desirable routings getting me from SYD-YYC on OW carriers are: Via SFO on QF then WS - the BA Avios flight calculator indicates I get neither tier points nor Avios for the WestJet segment from SFO-YYC Via SFO and SEA on QF then AS for the last two segments - I believe this would get me Avios only for the Alaskan Airlines segments Via NRT and YVR on JL then WS - flight routing here is 3.5 hours longer but I would get 280 tier points for the two long haul Japan Airlines flights, then nothing on the WestJet flight Any recommendations on how I should play this with our travel agent? To be honest I am not even sure if they are eligible to purchase the OW RTW ticket for us. In any event, all suggestions on how I can maximize the benefit of this for my OW tier point balance gratefully received. You can route SYD-DFW-YYC on QF and AA (or QF and a QF code for the AA metal). For YYC-YTO, you could route on AA YYC-DFW-YTO but you'd have to overnight in DFW. For YTO-GVA, you can route on BA via LHR. Although it'd be a nicer flight to route on AA YTO-LAX-LHR and then BA LHR-GVA. You'd get the much better AA J seats on a longer LAX-LHR flight. |
EF is not showing AONEx fares. I tried ex-LHR, ex-NRT and ex-JNB. They're just not there. Any ideas?
Edited to add: Just tried a few more quickly, BKK and HKG, and noticed that DONEx fares are also gone. |

EF seems to be having a bit of trouble displaying fares when more than one airline is specified
It has also been reported in a recent thread regarding RTW fares out of SEZ Probably better to report this in the appropriate EF thread, rather than in this RTW FAQ thread (which I have just done - see https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/29816432-post1707.html) |

Hello,
I am in the middle of the DONE4 itinerary shown below. The italicized portion has been completed and it's currently on pause at DFW. AMM-xDOH-xORD-AUS-JFK-LAX-xDFW-PDX-DFW-ICN-KUL-NRT-CMB-PVG-xDOH-JNB-DOH I am trying to optimize the remaining segments to obtain as many EQMs on AA as possible, while visiting Asia and South Africa. I'd like to visit Bali and Vietnam, but I think those can be done outside the itinerary as cheap flights from KUL. I am also staying away from India on this trip due to having to get a visa, etc. The routing shown is the best one I could come up with while staying on nice equipment such as DFW-ICN on AA 787-9 and PVG-DOH on QR Qsuites. Any comments or suggestions on how to improve this? |
you need to make up your mind if you want EQM or nice equipment?
dfw hkg cmb nrt cmb hkg lhr cpt doh. if u want qsuites. you can do dfw hkg cmb nrt cmb lhr doh cpt doh |

A transfer without stopover is not allowed. Choose another route and update your itinerary. By my count there's only one arrival into Africa (DOH-CPT) and one departure (CPT-DOH). Any ideas? |

So, the online tool doesn't like this routing. I get an error saying:

Any ideas? what make you suddenly want to maximize the EQM as it doesnt seem that you care for your first half of the RTW? I think the rule is about Europe. you are doing Europe - US - Asia - Europe - Africa - Europe. Normally, you can only enter and exit a continent once, but it is an exception that have been discussed, and the fare rule is quite clear (if I remember after the Dec 16 update) about this situation. |
