Hey guys - just wondering if there's any clarity on which economy fareclasses on MH would earn miles with Asiamiles/club miles for MPC? looking to book a rather decent looking fare for early summer.

Presumably, you cannot currently earn miles in any oneworld program for MH flights. Although the mileage earning between airlines and programs is a result of reciprocal agreements, ultimately (come February 1) it's up to MH to decide how many miles you'll earn in another oneworld airline's program (be that AsiaMiles, Aadvantage, QF etc) for a flight on MH. Hopefully, MH will be keen to get oneworld fliers to use its flights and will give 100% (or more) miles on all fare classes, including discount economy classes. Given that there are presumably no current mileage agreements between MH and any oneworld airline, I for one have no basis on which to speculate as to what MH will do.
Some airlines are keener than others to get business. As an AA flier, CX will only give me (AA) miles for (economy) flights in Y, B or H. However, AY for example will give me AA miles for (more or less) any fare class. As a result, I'll happily buy a discounted economy ticket from AY but I'm never going to buy one from CX (and am generally not going to trade up to Y, B or H on CX unless I absolutely have no choice but to fly CX). MH may or may not want my discount economy business - if they do, they'll follow the AY approach, if not, they'll follow the CX approach. The decision by a number of oneworld airlines (notably CX, QF) not to give AA miles for L fares means their flights are not usable for economy RTW tickets (unless earning no miles is acceptable to you) - let's hope MH does not follow their example.

You can earn AA mileage on QF L class fares (50% base miles - full EQP on earnings). S7 and RJ are rather more frugal in earnings, but do earn. Trans Pacific CX flights almost certainly have AA code shares as an option. It is the regional SE Asian flights and the European flights on CX that require creativity in selecting other carriers (or FF programs)
The big drawback of the AA program is the lack of any codeshares on flights to/from SWP/Asia/Europe. Once upon a time, AA announced it was going to codeshare on the BA flights to Asia/SWP but it never happened. Currently, AY codeshares on CX and AY flights via HEL are probably the best options for getting 100% miles on discount economy tickets to/from SWP/Asia/Europe ... unless you have other suggestions?

Talking of annoying point earn...
QFF members can't earn on L fares on flights operated by JQ, unless that flight is part of a oneworld ticket (with the QF code).
BEGHKLMNOQSVX (except if operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia)
BHK (Qantas marketed, operated by Jeststar or Jetstar Asia)
L (Qantas marketed, operated by Jetstar and travelling on a oneworld fare)

The main connecting points in SEAsia to Australia seem to be covered and seem to be salable without the LHR-SEAsia segments. Though CX shares to AKL do seem to need the connecting flight.Happy wandering

Can you expand on your comment - what "current setup" are you referring to? What is the basis for your conclusion?

Well I may make generalization, as I have to admit I only check on JL and QF which most of the "discounted" fare only earn 50%.
I also hope MH deep discount fare will earn mileage on CX

Duh! I really am mentally mis-attuned these days.... I had got so used to getting next to nothing on non-premium flights on BA, that I tend to automatically exclude them from my thinking. I'd forgotten that the revision of the AA/BA TATL arrangements had also affected mileage earning on other BA-coded flights.

MH Redemption Charges...
Just an observation about redeeming miles on MH after they join OneWorld in Feb. Obviously MH joining OneWorld will add a significant amount of "new" destinations when redeeming miles from other accounts. I just want you to be aware of the awfully high "charges" when booking awards with MH..
Ex: KUL-DPS C Class award, total charges 945 Ringits, $312
Normal economy ticket price when purchased 1200 Ringits, $400
KUL-NRT C Class award one way, 1286 Ringits, $430.
I certainly hope that these "surcharges" are adjusted in February but I highly doubt it
