I applied for an RBC card and was "conditionally approved" - I called in to have it processed and they said based on credit bureau information they have to decline my application. They said that online apps "are a different department" and they don't know why it would have said conditionally approved as opposed to pending.... I asked if there is any reconsideration option and they said no.
As if things couldn't get any worse, they pulled my credit twice under 2 different names (because if it were the same name the bureau would have merged them)

I have filed a dispute claim with transunion but they are very slow and difficult to deal with. Has anyone had experience with this?

I found out it isn't that easy any more to print their statements, as they changed their system a few months ago. I'm back to mailed statements, too much bother to print them.

Had the same problem with Chase Marriott Visa. The credit bureau wouldn't do anything and advised me to contact Chase Bank. I even took the complaint to Chase Bank Ombudsman and they said I entered the incorrect info on the online application and they had to do another pull when I called in. They refused to remove it.

FYI for the recent CIBC Aerogold 15k FYF offer....I applied over a week ago. Someone finally called me at work to confirm my identity. Put me on hold for 2 mins and came back to tell me that I'm approved. Pretty inefficient, but whatever.

So I dont know if anyone remembers this, but RBC offered Turbotax purchases for 100 points per dollar (so 1cpm!), which was a fantastic deal. I wasnt given any points and because I purchased ~600$ (so 60k points) it was escalated and I've been waiting for feedback for about 4 months.
Now Woooooow
i just FINALLY got a call back from RBC and they are saying they're NOT honoring the points. The only offer they're making is reimbursement of the money and keeping the software which is obviously stupid. They also offered me a contact address to escalate it again so I'm doing that.
Offering me money back (without interest) and to keep the software (when the purchase was about the points) isn't admission of having made a mistake and reimbursing me for it, it's just going back on a promised offer willy-nilly after 4 months... Stupid

I applied for my 2nd Alaska card and got approved. I applied for my wife's 2nd card and she got a conditional approval. She called in and the rep stated that her credit profile showed her maiden name, even though the 1st card shows her married name. ><
Did not mention the fact that she had already had a card. She had two choices - either provide a letter from the bank showing her married name or have the card sent showing both her maiden and married name. So opted for the latter. Very odd but at least she got approved.

I applied online, got a letter in the mail a week or so later saying I was approved but they needed to "verify my signature", so I mailed them my signature. Same thing happened with the aerogold business. What's up with CIBC and signatures??? I don't think I have bothered to sign a credit card in years...

RBC offering 2x RBC Rewards points on AirBnB bookings until Feb. 29, 2016. Also, first time use gets you 7000 RBC Rewards points.
My wife and I each have a card. Might take advantage of this. If I can't use it for a booking that I actually want, might just do a cheap dummy booking. There's a room near my house for rent for $29/night. 0.5c per Avion (converted to AA) ain't bad at all.

got the new Scotiabank Momentum Mastercard in the mail today, but I never applied the card, hence, initially was a bit worry. After checking, it has the same account number as our Chase Sears Mastercard. Login to online.chasecanada.ca and the Sears had change to Scotiabank. According to the info listed with the new card, it will still be no FX and no annual fee. So, look like I don't need to apply the Rogers MC or Amazon Visa after-all.
but this is a very bad cash card, 1% on Gas / Grocery / DrugStore & Recurring Payments, then 0.5% on anything else. So, definitely not using it unless I am outside of Canada.
