If the card has a different number, it should show up as a second account in your list of accounts when you log into online banking. Charges should show up on that one and therefore could towards your bonus.

Also...RBC lets you hold 2 of the same card? This is news to me. Interesting news.

Yes but in the US, for example, Chase allows you to hold 2 of the same BA card but not get any bonus points if you've had the bonus in the past 24 months

They might, but the bonus is only good if you haven't already received it (at least, that's what the T&C say). I was planning to test this out on a transfer, but I do long-term transfers (where I held the BA Visa nearly 3 years ago - or in other words, 3 cards ago!). We'll see...

Option 1. I, for one, reached the page by googling TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card
You could try saying that's how you got there.

Option 2. You could say you found it on a Flyertalk forum.

Option 3. Try a different browser. Myself, I finally borrowed someone's Mac, and used a browser that hadn't been configured to reject embedded Adobe components, as TD's website requires. P.S.: That worked great.

Option 4. Try calling back anyway. I have issues with TD customer staff all the time. As is detailed in this forum, their staff aren't very knowledgeable or trained, and are quick to reject when they don't know how to do something. Your luck might get better with the next CSR.

It won't be an additional pull if done within the same day. Even if they do one, it will be merged by the CB.

I agree that it is rediculous that they don't have a recon line

I never realized this, but the code CXUBCAL gives you 5% off routes YYZ/YVR-PEK/Shanghai/HKG with Cathay.

It's from the partnership with CX and UBC but the code is available for everyone to use. Not much, but a little? Works for Y/PE/J (it's 5% off for Y, I didnt bother checkig PE/J)

Smart marketing to UBC's largest ethnic demographic. Maybe that's also partly why Air Canada started their Altitude student program

I was at a Cathay-sponsored UBC Alumni event today and they mentioned that UBC Alumni benefit from discounts on Cathay. Surprised, I looked it up, and here it is:

https://www.alumni.ubc.ca/2015/benef...athay-pacific/

Clicking through I just looked at a sample date that ended up being 1215.- CAD with discount and 1275 without, which is approximately 5%. Not much, but it's something lol.

Edit: another (small) benefit: the promo fare allows 50CAD flight change fees, while the regular lowest economy fare on Cathay costs 100CAD. Small thing. Also books into V class, same as discount Y and has the same mileage accrual.
