Nope. Five total. Three for gold status, two for using the card.

Anyone have an active link for the Biz card? It keeps giving me an error saying the page isn't found after I click on the Apply button.

I have not tried one since yesterday, but the business application didn't work then. There was a note from AmEx yesterday afternoon on FrugalTravelGuy's blog that they were working on problems with the applications.

SPG/Amex institutional memory? Churn...

I last had this card in 2005. Any chance of churing this? Previous SPG/Amex threads did not have a lot of success stories about churning. But neither were there lots of stories about being denied a bonus.

Wondering if anyone has SPG success churning in general...

Yes, it is churnable, for me anyway. I've gotten 3 upfront bonuses in the past 6 or 7 years for the personal card and a couple for the Business card. YMMV.

I got instant approval on the Personal, but Biz said to call. I called, and they said the system flagged it as possibly an accidental double app, but once they realized 1 app was for personal, 1 for Biz, they approved it.

Checking in again. I had opened the SPG account under the 25K promo. Called in two times, and secured message to general inquiries when the 30k offer came out with a referral. Just secured message Amex again when the offer was open to all, but this time to social media with success. While they could not honor the lower spend requirement, they offered 10k points as a gesture of goodwill to be applied after the next statement period.

Just tried to apply for this (personal) and the Chase Sapphire. Pending on both. I expected pending with Chase as I have 3 accounts with them already, 2 of them opened up in Feb/April of this year so I figure in a week I'll give them a call and do the whole credit line swap/close my old WN card with them deal.

I didn't expect to get a pending from Amex, in the past with my Delta Gold and the Platinum card both were instant approved, I swear I didn't even click submit before it was approved. Guess I'll have to play the waiting game and see what they say.

Update: Well that didn't take long! I just got an email from Amex saying I was approved for the SPG card. Woo hoo! Hopefully I'll get it in time before I leave for a trip to Italy so I can get that spending started. I hate paying foreign transaction fees but I have some hotels that I'll be paying for that I'll suffer the fees for to help me reach the $4500 spend. I just hope these places take Amex. Now to find out about Chase...

Good to hear. I think we will call and do the same. We will get the spending done anyway so 35k bonus in the end isn't bad.

Just as an FYI, the two issues most commonly reported appear to be fixed now. The submission button for the Business card application is now working and the lesser offer of 25K as opposed to 30K for referrals should not appear using this url to refer: https://www201.americanexpress.com/c...enCampId=20048

Thanks for the update, as well as helping to get these problems identified to those in charge. Hope I was not too snippy in previous posts about these problems. It was very frustrating going from department to department and getting no help or acknowledgement that there was an issue.

On the plus side, the Social Media team hooked me up with serious bonus SPG points for my troubles.
