For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Budget:
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*:

For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A SEPARATE THREAD.

----

NOTE: You will have greater chances of success if you have greater flexibility on travel dates and cost. If you need a lot of MQMs on weekends only for < 5 cpm it probably won't happen.

Other creative possibilities depending how many MQMs you need:
----

*"Required Metal or Codeshares" is, approximately, asking whether you need a flight operated specifically by Delta or if partner flights are ok. If you are just looking for MQMs to hit a Medallion tier the normal way, then the answer is yes. If you are doing a status challenge, the answer is also probably yes, but read the T&C of your challenge carefully to be sure (for the regular status challenge the answer is also "yes")

NOTE: some partner flights earn MQMs at reduced rates. See this chart for more info.

He can start Friday and needs to return by at least Monday noon. Preferably Sunday. He says he can buy miles for $5K but that sounds silly to me.

Great.

Dec 6 - 8, China Eastern, LAX-BKK, $800, about 17,000 MQMs, about 12 hours in BKK, book on Expedia

Another option, departing later on Friday but a bit more expensive:

Need $1100 MQDS.

Hi,

I need an additional $1100 MQDS and would like to spend no more than $600-$700, but the less the better.

Any ideas?

$1100 MQDs is roughly 2800 miles with a partner airline that offers 40% MQDS in Business class. Try to find a flight in business class for $600-$700 that is 1400 miles away (2800 return) with a partner airline. Though at this time of year, most likely it will just be flying somewhere on Delta for the full requirement of your MQDs.

Earning MQMs

Do you actually have to take the trip to earn the MQMs, or can you just buy the ticket and check in?

thanks!

Over $1000 in MC from RIC

This is awesome thank you! If I had a Chinese Visa I would probably bite, but unfortunately I don't. I think I may just have to let my Platinum status lapse (will still be Gold for 2020), and plan some early-year runs to try and requalify for platinum by mid-year.

Thank you for the research and recommendations though canuck_traveler . This thread is really awesome because of folks like you.

Being in the Washington area, you may want to investigate getting a Chinese tourist visa (good for 10 years, $150). It might not take that long to process an application with the embassy right there.

Thanks for the kind words. Just trying to pay back a little all that I have learned over the years on this forum. Hopefully, I am passing on knowledge for others to do the same in the future.

Updated request - had a few last minute work trips pop up, but still have a bit of a stretch to reach Diamond for 2020:

Departure Airport: LAX or nearby
Miles Needed: 17,250 MQM, $1,100 MQD
Required Spend or Budget: ideally no more than $1,000
Available Travel Dates: 12/26-12/31

I could also travel from AUS on 12/20 - if there is something that makes sense from there!

Thank you!
