Delta Buy MQM for QY 2018

Does anyone know the prices for buying MQMs before EOY 2017 for the 2018 Medallion year?

NO, but therre's some historical data on the prices DL offered last year and IIRC at least the year before that. IIRC it seemed to depend greatly on one's status level, with DMs getting the most costly offers.

So we have to wait for something to be published? You'd think higher tiered earners would get a better deal... go figure.

I wouldn't think that at all if I was running the business.

Those at the higher tier are more likely to value the benefits greater and therefore be willing to pay more to get there. And when they're willing to pay more then as a business you absolutely charge more.

so as a business thinking maybe lets reward customers that we know are buying them out of their own pockets... maybe just a little thank you for your business... but NO lets not do that.

If you're worrying about buying MQM right now, why don't you book a MR?

Can't speak to your schedule, but given that we saw 10,000 MQM showing up for some people in the $3k range and you need 16,000, you're almost definitely better off finding a weekend and flying to Singapore

Yikes, that's crazy. You would think they would value them somewhere around the Medallion qualification charts, i.e., $3k = 25k MQM. Compared to flying 15-20 segments to earn that many MQM (or a MR to SIN), sounds like it would be a deal for DL to get that money for doing absolutely nothing.

Well, you acknowledge that elite benefits have some value to you - or you wouldn't be chasing EQM. What value do they have to you? How does that compare to Delta's costs of proving benefits to you?

The Buy MQM's program has typically been published around December 1st over the last few years. The top amount you can purchase has been 10K MQM's. It's been quite some time since they offered them at a fixed rate (2012 I think). And most people thought they were a ripoff even back then. The higher costs for the going between the higher status levels is likely due to most people seeing more value in going from Gold to Plat or Plat to Diamond, than going from Silver to Gold or nothing to Silver. If they made them price competitive with mileage runs, they'd likely greatly inflate the elite ranks.

Save that Mileage Run… Buy MQMs

Personally, I would do a fun little spontaneous MR trip to make up the difference.

How about a fun weekend trip or two instead of either a pure MR or trying to buy the MQMs?

BTW, IIRC last year the purchase of MQMs did count for MQDs, but DL didn't make offers to those who just needed MQDs. Earlier there was a year where some folks got MQM purchase offers, but the maximum MQMs they could purchase wouldn't give them a higher status tier and in the extreme as they didn't at least make FO, the purchased MQMs didn't even roll over. This apparently caused some complaints and now it doesn't appear to be possible to buy MQMs purely for rollover.

I'm surprised Delta doesn't do a year end off where you can buy MQD's at a discount
