Anyone have any of the food at the new "Embers" place? Is it any good? Where do they even prepare it?

I have not eaten there, but I, too, was curious where they get the food so I asked a waitress. They use the kitchen at The Pub.

EWR diversions

Huge line of thunderstorms hitting EWR 2 777’s from China already landed CLE plus a 757 from LAX

do the passengers deplane or wait on tarmac until takeoff? If they deplane, C concourse and United Club must be jammed!

If they think this will be a relatively short wait and they will be able to continue on to EWR, they will likely just sit on the tarmac and wait it out. If the delay will be lengthy or if the flights are ultimately canceled tonight, they will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in CLE on Concourse A. This happened several years ago during an East Coast blizzard with multiple international arrivals, including from China and Europe having arrived at CLE. I bet the processing of over 1000 passengers put a lot of stress on the inadequate USCBP FIS station and took quite a while.

I just saw on the UA website that UA88 is shown at gate A14 while UA87 is shown at A11. However, I saw a pic from a spotter that looks like one of them is parked on Pad 3, not at the terminal. So, I'm not sure what the plan is now.

Just noticed UA804 NRT-IAD was diverted to CLE due to weather. Looks like it's only going to be parked for about 1:40, so unlikely to deplane (it's a 772). I was actually on 480 by the airport when I saw this plane land. Compared to what I normally see it looked like a widebody, so I looked it up.

IAD and EWR

Afternoon IAD flight upgraded to 739 because so much Europe connection traffic but most EWR flights downgraded to Regional Jets. Flights are packed.

Yeah; getting tired of routing myself through IAD or ORD to get to EWR around the time I want to while avoiding RJ Heck and terminal A on the nonstops. (But hey, at least I'll have 1K in the bag for next year by the end of July )

London

Tomorrow mark 20 year anniversary of inaugural flight CLE-LGW CO 66. I was on the flight first trip to London. Lots of excitement flight was full. Sad we have no direct flights as there is certainly enough demand in the summer with tourists going in both directions.

I share your sorrow. I was on Icelandair's inaugural flight to KEF. And while I was not on CO's inaugural flight to LGW, I did fly that route. Alas, Clevelanders don't value direct flights to frightening places like Europe where the scary people don't speak American.

Traffic for the first half of 2019 continues to be strong. Domestic traffic is up 4.87%, international is down 10.46 (probably due mainly to the departure of both Icelanders), and total traffic is up 4.49% to 4,881,474. The 10 million pax goal just might be attained for 2019.

767 enroute from GSP UA 2561. Will take the Browns to iND tomorrow. Same aircraft took the Bills to GSP today. Nice to see a wide body here not a diversion.
