I rarely have that problem, and I'm a card hoarder at my current volume. I've always enjoyed collecting/sorting things.. If I did 5x my current volume I might not keep them, or I might just get a bigger box...

I assume though that a minimum, you have seen people around here say "OV" on most MS threads. But now you know.

I don't hang out here much and I assumed OV was just a One Vanilla GC. I mainly hang out in the DL forum and the MR forum although I'm not browsing the latter much due to the fact I'm nearly flying every week for work and I'll probably top 200K MQMs this year.

Mine go right in the trash after I drain them.

Whaaaaat? No record keeping? No GC going into the file together with the receipts in case something happens? Wouldn't work for me...

I have to agree with you here. I read one too many horror stores of people having things refunded to their prepaid a few months later but the prepaid was gone. I keep for 6 months now.

I keep all receipts and cards until all of the funds show up on the originating CC. For Redbird, bill pay, etc., I'll wait until the payment transaction on the CC is posted (not pending). For MOs, I'll wait some extra time to ensure the MO clears (no reason it shouldn't, but it's good to be sure).

I also do a balance check on every GC immediately prior to throwing it out. I have caught mistakes on one or two occasions.

So, are the Vanilla PPVCs new to CVS? I went to grab some Vanilla VGCs and grabbed 2 of them instead. No sign of the word gift on them anywhere and they loaded just fine to the RC. I've never noticed them before.

I've bought those at another store as they were the only ones left on the rack. They worked well to load my RC and with no "gift card" on them is a plus.

The one CVS near me has a strict policy of cash only for VGCs. I tried another CVS for the first time this week just a little ways and the lady sold me two $500 OVGC with a DL scan using a CC. Just shows that with CVS stores, YMMV rings true.

+1

After my bad experience with a VGC from Kroger I keep my records.

Just in case I track all transactions on a spread sheet.

When exchanging plastic for paper I dog ear the lower left corner of the empty card to mark it as depleted. This leaves the mag stripe still usable if the card later has an issue. Helps to avoid confusing loaded with unloaded cards when trash day arrives.

Upromise in-store offer

For those with the upromise card, the CVS in-store offer is back for October; this time with 5% cb up to $5 per purchase. Good so long as your cashier can do a split tender correctly. You'll need to activate the offer online.

Do you guys visit other pharmacies once in a while? I know there's talk of Wal-greens throughout the threads, but I don't see a dedicated wiki. Is there a limit at that location? Are there other pharmacy locations?

Most people prefer CVS because they are more consistent and generous with the number of gift cards you can buy with a CC. Walgreens tend to be much more YMMV.

RA in my area doesn't enforce a limit like CVS. ymmv

this is YMMV widely depending on location. RA works for me but not for others, WAG doesn't work for me but for others, CVS seems to work for most.

Ah, that explains the lack of wiki. Looks like I'll just hit the pavement to see :D

I tried a Rite Aid for the first time yesterday. Bought four cards for $2K with no problem... not even a drivers license check. One transaction.

Went back with my partner last night.... and we each did $2K each.... Funny... my clerk said she had to split it into two $1K transactions. My partner's clerk right beside my clerk made him do four $500 transactions. I just had to laugh. :)
