I was on the phone with the rep trying to complete the sale, and she asked me to have the CVS guy punch in the CC numbers. Apparently, the system wouldn't let him do that for a gift card sale. The manager came over and she couldn't either. Weird.

I've had that happen. Waited a couple days and it cleared. Don't know why. A couple others have reported it too. My theory is it is either something in CVS system that maintains the block for the rest of the day or the US rep on the phone is not hitting the right keys. No problem since.

Guys, check your email. CVS has a $5 off $25 coupon that can be loaded to your CVS card. Click on the "Get Coupon" link in the email then load it to your CVS card. You have an option to print it but let's not do that please.

It worked on a transaction of 2x 1VGCs and a bag of M&M's. I'm not sure if a non-GC merchandise is required but M&M's is also free after another coupon (use the in-store printer for a Mars coupon). I was only interested in the free candy but the $5 discount took me by surprise.

Not sure if it'll work on VRs but I don't see why not. If not, just duplicate my transaction. It paid for my gas today.

Any reports from the Bay Area? How are CVSes treating VRs with credit card purchases now?

Like a baby treats a diaper.

I know the policy with CVS gift cards for GCs and VRs are they are not allowed, but are they allowed for partial purchases?

Meaning I can't swap a $500 CVS gift card for a $500 VR.

But can I swap a $100 CVS gift card and $403.95 on CC for a $500 VR card.

Also if this is not allowed, is it YMMV or register lockout?

If I knew of one that took CC within my part of the Bay Area, it would be a closely guarded secret. Way too many people playing with MS here.

I was going to buy 3 VRs in one transaction at one CVS store. However, it seemed that the system didn't allow it (after my ID was scanned, etc..). I had to buy one after another. Did anyone have similar experiences?

I usually buy 2 to 4 cards, many times on two CCs. Today the ID check didn't work -- it kept timing out after the scan of my DL. The clerk instead rang up each VR and GC separately, with the manager right there. Made me kind of nervous, but no problems.

No issues with VRs in the Bay area, PM me to trade locations =) Need Gas stations
