My concern is that the purchase of a USPS MO is reflected as a CA. Does anyone know if this is the case? If in fact USPS MO purchases are seen as CA’s what is the best advise for draining a MVD card. I am not trying to MS for points, my objective is to meet minimum spend on four AA Exec cards. While I have two BB accounts I need a little more. Thanks for any advise.

Do you live near a Target? The prepaid Target Amex can be loaded with a credit card. Then you can withdraw the money at an ATM. There is also a prepaid Amex out there that you can load with vanilla reloads. You can also withdraw the money from an ATM. Neither of these cards can be used as a debit card or for Bill Pay like Bluebird.

It isnt classified as a CA in the normal sense because I have successfully bought $2500 in MO at USPS after doing a CA at a bank in the same month. In fact, I went to PO twice after the CA. Therefore, it was $1.95 plus the three MO charges, $1.65, $1.65 and $1.20 for the $2500 MOs. Of course, I got shutdown quick after pushing this through in the first month.

Unloading from MVD

I loaded my first MVD with $2000 in the last weeks. Now I wanted to unload it without getting shutdown immediately. What is the safest way of unloading it? I can leave some money at MVD for sometime. I tried Bill Pay @ WM for paying Chase and CITI. Both the payment did not work. They couldn't find Citi card on the list and chase couldn't recognize my credit card account. Is it safe to buy MO or doing CAs? Please let me know your thoughts.

TIA,
ramamosn

Honestly, at the rate they're going now, I would try to get all of it out in one transaction. Then again, you'd be able to do the same transactions when you're put in spend down mode. However, if you're not put in spend down mode and they close the account (like they did me), you might be in a less fortunate situation.

You're less likely to get shutdown via MO in my opinion, as it does list as a transaction so it may not receive immediate attention like a couple CA's would.

Head to somewhere with cheap MO's and grab them. Remember of the $.50 transaction fee per MO. So four-$500 MO's would be $2 of which you need to leave on the card.

On another note, has anyone been blacklisted with MVD? I know there was a report way early on that someone thought they were, but no report back of whether they actually were.

Undetermined "safest" and the strategy data points show no trend. Those that make claim to having a "special secret method" avoiding shutdown, are boasting, but not talking.

Call Citi and made a debit payment. MDV fee .50¢

Note:
You can only debit pay Citi up to the balance owed. So I wait to all the charges hit.

Also... it's been written before, but honestly, most, all, every answer is posted in this thread.

While it might be convenient to ask and quickly get an answer, I discovered, buried in this thread, essential tips that were not fully flushed out, but pertained to my exact situation.

After MVD closed your account, what steps did you take to get your money?

Thanks.

There was something like $5x.xx so I didn't worry about it. She said they would be sending a check.

And again.. I'm asking the same question.. sorry. Not taking my own advice.

After this MVD account was closed, did you get another temp MVD and start again?

Why yes I did! :D

But PS: I also had another MVD account open when they closed that one, so just because they hit one doesn't mean the rest of the dominoes fall.

Yeah!

So.. you're saying the $9,999 monthly load limit is PER CARD and not MVD SS# total accounts?

I don't know the answer to that. I don't think I've every maxed out my MVD's because I usually have more than one and I try to mix it up so they're not all shutdown.

I'm sure someone else will chime in!

It's not important. I agree, no reason to test the max. (unfortunately). But dreaming, 30K a month would be great.

The 9K+ question was more related to the connectivity between MDV accounts, and you answered that in part above.

Thank you.

Very glad to know, if one MDV shuts down, others stay alive.

I'd more likely say: If one MVD shuts down, others MAY stay alive.

YMMV.

Honestly I am not sure there is any trick. My first MVD got shutdown (spend down) after about three weeks and $2500 of loads and about $2350 of unloads. I never loaded more than $500 a day. Only did MOs (@WM) and legit purchases (a couple), always left money on the card and let the money "age" (i.e., loaded and left on card for days to weeks before unloading). Didn't make a difference. I agree with others I don't think there is a secret sauce. At least when I was put in spendown I could easily clear the rest of my balance easily.

Personally I wonder if they look at new cards more closely as my shutdown seems at the low end of what folks have done recently. I think either take it easy at first or hit hard and fast but who knows. Just a random guess.
