So I guess my situation is an outlier and I will have no confirmation beyond the messages from Hyatt and the fact that my TSU is showing as redeemed.
ok, thanks for this DP.

Hi I may not be a newbie but have a question about this years Hyatt or even Marriott’s loyalty program. Like many others I achieved my Globalist status in early 2021 with the 2x stay nights promo so I stayed 15 nights and got my global status. Wonder if Hyatt is doing that again? Or are they not going to scale back the qualifying nights back to 60 nights?

Looks like Marriott and Hilton have also scaled back to the regular chart for their elite status, is that why not hotel chain is offering an Elite Status promotion this year?

Hyatt as of now has decided 60.

They may reduce it or offer a double elite night promo during the year but that’s TBD, I would expect one of those but not both.

Hello folks,
I just signed up for WoH credit card and am hoping to get to globalist. Looks like I missed the boat on last years promo but any advice / tips for a Hyatt Newbie to reach globalist status? We do plan on staying at several Hyatt properties throughout the year maybe as early as Feb.

Also, we do visit vegas several times a year, and I saw a thread recently about doing a mattress run (had go google this) at Excalibur or Luxor. However in order to avoid resort fees for the mattress run, I would need to already have explorist or globalist status, right?

Appreciate any advice!

Welcome!

Vegas - No one is sure about how utilizing MLife benefits such as the waived resort fees for Gold and above Members would impact crediting of Hyatt points and Elite Nights. So I’d put that on hold until it’s 100% confirmed, not to mention it requires actually getting to MLife Gold status which at minimum requires a match from Explorist. Without the resort fee waiver it gets pretty expensive.

With the Credit Card you get 5 nights automatically and Discoverist status. You also earn another 2 Elite Nights per every $5,000 spent using the card whether it’s spent with Hyatt or elsewhere.

As of now you’d need to earn another 55 Elite Nights to earn Globalist. Hyatt may cut it to 30 Nights or they may offer a double nights promotion to be competitive as Hilton and Marriott have been quite generous, but as of now they haven’t mentioned anything.

Hyatt has a promo starting on January 15th where you’ll earn 2,022 points for every 2 nights stayed (they don’t have to be consecutive) and a 1,000 point bonus for being a credit cardholder so make sure to register for that!

Cracking the code of my Hyatt bills

Hi all, can someone help me figure out what "Eligible Spend" and "Redemption Eligible" mean on my bills? For eligible spend, the number never matches what I have spent. I assume taxes may be excluded but it is usually $100 plus dollars off so I am sure I am missing something.

Thinking of switching over to Hyatt for 2022. I did a brief search online, but does anyone know if there is any sort of status match/challenge currently happening?

Not at the moment, but MGM and Hyatt have a partnership, if you can get status on another casino chain you might be able to get MGM to match. But in my experience you typically have to go to Vegas to get the match processed.

If you want to post one we can take a guess, but typically taxes, resort / destination fees, and (IIRC) amounts paid with a gift card or other credit won’t count as eligible spend.

Alcohol usually does not earn points and I've never been clear exactly how to tell when it will. But if alcohol was a significant part of the restaurant bill (and the gift shop possibly) that could be why.

Redemption Eligible is weird. IIRC it's how much of the bill you can pay with points, if you wanted to. Dining, spa, and some taxes I believe. But don't; the value isn't good.

I have never understood this either. Here a crazy sample from my recent stay at the Seabird and HR Indian Wells

I used 2 AMEX FHR $200 credits to book two different back-to-back stays at the Thompson in Dallas, Texas, for myself and P2.

I booked two 3-night stays for a total of 6 nights. One 3-night stay in my name and one in P2's name.

* Should I ask MHC or the hotel to move P2's nights to my account so I get 3 nights credit? If the stays are consolidated, will I lose out on the $100 property credit from the second stay?

* Should I use a Suite Night Award? I have 4 SNAs expiring at the end of 2022 so this might be a great opportunity. I have never used SNA before.

* Is there a downside to putting P2's nights in my name that I am not aware of?

I have no experience with FHR outside of a single stay at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Advice is welcome.

Do Club Access Awards matter if you are a Globalist?

I'm a Lifetime Titanium Marriott person who converted to Hyatt last quarter and achieved Globalist. I took advantage of the credit card promotion to earn status. I'm planning out my work travel and mapping out how I will re-earn the status this year. The Milestone awards say that I get 2 Club Lounge Access awards after 20 nights. Silly question.... being Globalist means I get Club Lounge access, doesn't it? So why would I get this or need this after 20 nights?

I read Globalist get free breakfast (or Club access). Is that true at every Hyatt property? (It is not true with Marriott at Courtyards).

So far, I am really finding my Hyatt experience positive with great customer service. My favorite Marriott in San Antonio just closed for 2 years, so I'm looking forward to seeing how things go with Hyatt.

Yep it is true their main usage is if you book multiple rooms w/ a larger group with those who don't have elite status. Of course, they're only usable at 1) properties that have club lounges and 2) said properties need to have them open.

And yes, as a fellow Marriott LTT refugee - Hyatt really is that much better! Marriott is increasingly a terrible company...and variable redemption hasn't even kicked in yet.
