As found repeatedly on FT, agents will make up rules to fit an error so they don't have to do any work to fix the problem.

Let me guess, the longer stay was the first one and that is the one you are not getting credit? Makes you wonder if this was deliberate being the longer stay would "cost" them the most.

It's possible this is such a corner case, IT chose not to deal with it. The HH CSR should be able to piece it together to give credit where do. Given you were not at the first property for the last night, that night (not stay) should not earn you credit. Trying to pull that apart will be tough, but if they can get you to go away by saying no, their job is done. You might try making your case to the HH rep here on FT. Ashleigh may be able to work some magic for you.

I had a somewhat similar occurence two years ago. I had a five night stay at the Hilton Dulles and during that point I flew down to Miami for a day and a half and the two nights in Miami so the two nights post (with a small amount of points since it was an award stay at the Bentley) but the five nights (which were all paid) never posted. It took three phone calls to Diamond Desk but finally I got it taken care of. I even specifically said they can take away the stay/nights for the Bentley and that I wanted the Dulles Hilton nights/stay credit.

By the way, I do feel compelled to point out that after that experience and the pain getting it rectified, it had created an incentive for me to not use Hilton for both reservations for any similar future endeavors and instead split between Hyatt and Hilton.

Recourse for missing points

I wanted to get some feedback on my situation regarding some HHonors points that have mysteriously "vanished" from my account. I keep a spreadsheet of my loyalty programs and as of the 19th of July, I had 223,884 HHonors points.

However, I logged in today and my balance only shows 217,884 (difference of 6,000 points). After scanning my points activity on their website, it looks like two 3,000 bonuses for buying Mother's Day flowers through their FTD promotion are now no longer listed.

Any advice on how to address the issue? I talked with a HHonors CSR and they said they show no activity regarding points being taken away. However, I do have a Hilton promotional e-mail that shows my points balance (as of 15 July) being 215,241. The most recent points activity on my HHonors account was from my Hilton HHonors Citi card (19 July) for 8,643. You add both and you get what I'm showing in my spreadsheet...223,884.

The CSR asked me if I wanted to open a complaint but there would be no means for me to show "proof" (screenshots)...it would only consist of them looking at the same activity that I can see. He did offer me 3,000 points for the misunderstanding but I told him I'd think about it.

What would you do in this case? I know 6,000 points is small potatoes but to me, it's the principle of it all. Why offer promotions for bonus points, post the bonus(s) to your account, then take 'em away?

I would've opened the complaint.

If they request documentation at a later time, I'm sure there's a way you can email or fax it at that point.

Don't make it harder than it needs to be...sounds like a relatively easy fix that the person on the phone simply couldn't resolve right away!

Still no points for stay ending 9/8-- time to report missing stay?

I had a paid stay from 8/22-9/8 at a HGI. The stay showed up on "recent activity" within a couple days of checkout, but it still has a blank space for points earned. Time to report missing stay, or give it more time? Diamond member, FWIW.

Time to report the missing points, I think.
In my experience, if points don't post within a week they are not going to post at all.

Last time I emailed Hhonors about missing points they asked me to wait two weeks after the stay to contact them. The points of course didn't show up and I had to contact them again. But you have reached the two weeks.

Email Hhonors and attach pictures/screenshots of your bill.

The Hilton website actually already has the bill in PDF form. That's why this puzzles me. Would it be better to submit the "missing stay" form, or call the Diamond line? I looked at the missing stay form and it asks for method of payment. This is tricky for me because this stay was paid for by the insurance company via a booking agency. However, we had a stay booked by the same agency immediately before this that earned full points.

I travel in Europe so I can never see my bill online. So I'm always asked to attach the bill as proof of staying.
I usually write an e-mail to the normal hhonors e-mail adress - it works fast enough for me.

Call the Diamond desk. It looks as though the stay is in the system but it's confused, possibly by the adjoining dates. They won't ask for payment information.

Call/email the Diamond Desk. I've had phone agents add the points during the call and they're immediately visible on my account.

The online form for "Report a Missing Stay" is incredibly slow (4-5 weeks for a response) if it works at all.

Yeah, that was weird. That post didn't look like it went through as it didn't show up initially after I got an error page. But it looks like I got my answer. Thanks

Missing Points help.

Recently i stayed at the Fess Parker doubletree in SB for a conference. I had paid $339 / night via the conference website and shared my Hilton Honors number with the hotel. When i checked out the final bill was $0, but didn't show anything else. A few days later i noticed online that i didn't get any points for my 3 nights @ $339.

I'm HH gold, and even got my oceanfront upgrade /letter when i checked in, so i was surpised i didn't see any points.

Since i booked directly through the conference, did i lose out on my ~15k points credit? Any suggestions?

It's entirely possible that the conference negotiated rate did not allow for points accrual. Whether it did would be up the contract the conference had with the hotel.

I'd try submitting a missing points request and see what happens.
