Something still needs to be fixed:

Time tables are back, so incremental progress continues. Still miss the old printed ones, but I'm old and nostalgic.

There are some bugs, eg. MUC-HEL 25MAR22

In my opinion, https://www.finnair.com/en/timetables is not a time table, that is just a flight search with data removed.
For instance, a timetable will tell me during which dates AY73 is daily and when it becomes weekly and wich weekdays it operates.

I wouldn't rule it out based on this. Multi-city booking isn't as fetching a topic as internet access and meal selection.

IMHO crazy this warrants an article in itself. Ordering SPMLs is hardly something special, but rather should have been possible for ages as part of basic MMB.

HEL-ARN on 25MAR22 is also pretty wild:

Maybe they actually have a real timetable behind the function but their silly search can't work out the dates when schedules change.
Like when one 1234567 schedule ends and another 1234567 schedule starts and they think both are valid on the same day.

Why don't they just publish an API for real people to use? Heck, they can even charge a licence fee for it. I am certain we could build better functions in shorter time and offer searcges people are willing to pay for.

Maybe they don't trust their own pricing enough?

To me it's a win-win when customers perform exhaustive search for the tickets and prices they're interested in resulting in more purchased tickets. What do they have to hide so much that the points calculator and multi-city booking and more advanced fare search must be taken away? That people would find some miscalculated price or data points that they can't maximise revenue on?

Offtopic. Not only AY is struggling but neither Hertz wants my money. So difficult to book and now ”form of payment not valid” althou I have updated everything into my profile. Their App is hopeless and website booking equally clumsy. Oh well.

Reading AYs leader praise themselves as top company for sw developers according to a quote from Talented: ”Corporate doing things the right way! At Finnair cross-functional teams develop one of the biggest ecommerce platforms in Finland as well as Finnair's digital customer experience and in-flight entertainment system in a start-up like, dynamic and development-oriented environment. Extremely interesting offering for developers.”

Well well, oh well, I say

Let's hope some serious developers take up this extremely interesting offering. Just let them not be cross-functional whatever that's supposed to mean.

Some interesting things I noticed with an upcoming JU/AY codeshare (2 legs, 1 JU, 1 AY operated, oth on AY code)

- I could check in to the AY flight 52 (!) hours earlier on the JU site and get a b/p to Apple wallet with JU logo :)
- Within 36 hrs the AY app says no mobile boarding pass available for these flights, go to the counter
- The AY website issues mobile b/p without any issues

So if you cannot get a mobile b/p on the app, try the browser.

Great AY IT work, as usual.
