Chicken Madeira from a local non-chain restaurant. I ate about half and will have the rest for a lunch or dinner at a later time.

Lake perch fried with a light batter, and broiled whitefish! I really need to make a trip up north soon!

My brother-in-law catches a lot of walleye, so we get a good fish fry now and then too.

Picnic before an outdoor (socially distanced) concert: starter was insalata tricolore with burrata rather than mozzarella. Main was cold roast lamb with quince jelly, salad of rice and peas (homegrown), cold roasted vegetables. Pudding was home grown raspberries with cream. A wonderful afternoon.

Friends were in Harbor Springs and picked up smoked whitefish spread for me before heading back to Chicago yesterday. At $26 for a pint container she thought the price had shot up...I didn't bother to tell her that's the normal price!

Where do you go Up North? Now I'm dreaming about dinner at Dam Site Inn.

No. I wanted the flavor but don't like eating peaches, so I just used them in the sauce.

My parents can no longer make that long drive, but for years Dam Site was their favorite. I haven't been there in years and need to go back.

Family cottage is near Petoskey. A local favorite for whitefish is the Terrace Inn dining room in Bay View. For a splurge, I like the Weathervane in Charlevoix.

Resort dining - fried chicken supper with mashed potatoes and Swiss chard. Very yummy but I didn’t want to drink anything as we had a 90 Minute drive home. Great chicken that I can’t fry, but I still taste the salt even after multiple glasses of ice water and then a delicious slice of Japanese crepe cake (Dom Ansel style) that I bought at a korean grocer. Great cake that I’ll rebuy.
