This is an absolute winner! I made it tonight and it was gorgeous to look at and even better to eat. Delicious. And I am not normally a fan of deep dish pizza. I have never really liked it and much prefer Napoletana style. But this was awesome and I will definitely make it again.
yes as are avocados et al. Nice on the tomato plants :-)

Tomatoes are fruits (seeds) and vegetables (savory) in my book! Remember that I have four tomato plants, though right now the Super Sweet 100s are my favorites. The first to ripen, on the smaller side for cherry tomatoes (my preference) and almost taste like candy. I could see myself planting multiple of these next year.

There's a place here in Chicago that makes Detroit style, and I almost describe it as school cafeteria pizza. About an inch thick and doughy. I can't say what certainly how representative that is, but that's my take.

Actually, this pizza definitely is doughy but the crisp, caramelized edges are a nice contrast and it's very flavorful and the layer of cheese directly on top of the crust keeps it from getting soggy.

I assumed and also could imagine the sticky rice with the bbq steak.
Yummy yum yum
I think almost all pizzas are great when fresh from an oven, even better than HQ delivery.
I use a baking square for my Detroit pizza so it isn’t cast iron. Maybe I should try the cast iron skillet as it’s small so the dough ball should fit. I’m not yet making my own pizza dough. I buy multigrain frozen dough balls. $1.99
