The picture doesn’t do it justice because there is nothing to show perspective. That bowl was 14” across and the salad was mounded 6” high. I ate the ahi and avocado and about 2/3 of the salad even after sharing some with Mrs BV.
We drove to Winter Haven this morning. We found the bad side of town, a one block downtown with nothing going on, drove completely around one of the Chain O Lakes, and finally consulted Yelp to find a restaurant. We chose Harborside which had a nice view of the lake and a menu with lots of things we like. We sat at the bar although I did not order an adult beverage. Mrs BV had a glass of cab, grilled salmon with “Bay’s slaw” and a slice of key lime pie.
I’m not sure Winter Haven has much beyond Legoland and the Peppa Pig Experience, but it was a chance to explore a place we’ve never been and the lunch made it worthwhile. No dinner needed after a salad that large.
Additionally, it was a pleasure to watch a professional waitstaff. I appreciate the uniforms, the efficiency and hustle with which these servers work. And friendly on top of that. I’m tired of being served by indifferent teenagers.

Are the sweet potato fries unlimited? That might explain the too much food. I always get the unlimited steak fries but never want a second serving. Some day, Im going to just eat the fries till Im ready to burst and take the burger home in a box.

They are but no one ever offered a refill which is a good think because they were delicious. Super crispy and they had some kind of coating on them. I have had that same thought but the only way that works is if I never see the burger in the first place...just bring it all boxed. I can't resist "tasting" it if I see it.

We had a Red Robin close by and it closed. I love their burgers. Their rewards program is so good. We were constantly getting free stuff. There is another one <10 miles away. An employee was murdered there in the early a.m. hours about a month ago and my partner says he won't go there - too sad. I may sneak down there for lunch some day.

Yeah, that is horribly sad. I would still go though.

I made a pot of vegetable beef soup (mostly cabbage, but also onion, celery, carrots and canned tomatoes). Because the temperature is 94 and the air conditioner has been running all day long.
