The picture doesn’t do it justice because there is nothing to show perspective. That bowl was 14” across and the salad was mounded 6” high. I ate the ahi and avocado and about 2/3 of the salad even after sharing some with Mrs BV.

We drove to Winter Haven this morning. We found the bad side of town, a one block downtown with nothing going on, drove completely around one of the Chain O Lakes, and finally consulted Yelp to find a restaurant. We chose Harborside which had a nice view of the lake and a menu with lots of things we like. We sat at the bar although I did not order an adult beverage. Mrs BV had a glass of cab, grilled salmon with “Bay’s slaw” and a slice of key lime pie.

I’m not sure Winter Haven has much beyond Legoland and the Peppa Pig Experience, but it was a chance to explore a place we’ve never been and the lunch made it worthwhile. No dinner needed after a salad that large.

Additionally, it was a pleasure to watch a professional waitstaff. I appreciate the uniforms, the efficiency and hustle with which these servers work. And friendly on top of that. I’m tired of being served by indifferent teenagers.
