Wait, you were running from the cold and decided to have an ice cream?

Well, it was hot in the mall, and I figured the ice cream wouldn’t melt. I had the same conversation with the hotel ground staff as they also thought it was goofy.

Dinner at Yardhouse in downtown KC/MO.

Calamari:

The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich -- it took quite a while to get the sandwich as the fryer, allegedly, had some sort of issue. The sandwich was definitely fresh when it came to the table.

A new one for me - Hachis Parmentier. Essentially a French cottage pie.

Forgot to take a pic of a serving, but this is what it looked like inside.
This is the correct one. The wrong one was pepperoni with basil & fresh garlic. Totally wrong pie.

That wrong one sounds good - bonus of not having pickles!

But was it good? Or did you get rid of it?

Before I tried it years ago, i couldn't imagine pickes on a pizza either but it works & is delicious---especially with pastrami. They usually are diced but probably because it was made in a hurry, it came with slices. I remember being mocked on here for putting honey on a pizza, but now I see it everywhere.
i wanted & ordered pastrami pizza. The wrong one wouldn't have been as good as you might think. I love garlic but not big piles of RAW garlic. If i had wanted pepperoni, there is a different pizzeria I would have ordered from.
i gave the wrong pizza back to the guy who delivered the correct one.

Is it made with a rye crust? Do you put mustard on it?

It has a little mustard on it but not made with rye. Other than that it is just a big open faced pastrami sandwich!

Gotcha. I would have assumed that they would have told you to just keep the one delivered in error. Anyway, the only way I can ever see myself trying a pastrami pizza with pickles is if someone offers me a bite. I certainly wouldn't order one without having an idea of what I was in for.

How about a Reuben Pizza? Instead of tomato sauce use Thousand Islands dressing, substitute Swiss cheese for the Mozzarella, top the pastrami with sauerkraut and sprinkle the pizza with caraway seed.

well they sell by the slice as well.
They didn't tell me anything & the guy seemed a bit surprised when I handed it to him but I had no use for it. As it was I put half of the pastrami one in the freezer & already have a few slices of Secret pizza in there. As much as I could easily eat all of that daily....i don't have the metabolism to do that. Maybe I should get an MRI on some mystery part of my body & start popping a bunch of aspirin. 🤓

actually not a huge Reuban fan but maybe without the sauerkraut.
Nobody seems shocked by Thai BBQ chicken pizza. I had halibut pizza in Alaska. I have heard of duck confit pizza (sounds delicious), potato chips on pizza. I love figs on pizza. Also a runny egg.
and smoked salmon has capers!

Talking about pizzas, now thinking about what a Uyghur "pizza" would be like.... love their spice mix, but not sure what the toppings would be.

Just my opinion, but people need to stop trying to make everything into a pizza. I actually love Reubens - the idea of making a pizza of it? Abomination

Okay, the honey thing is hilarious considering what I had for dinner:

Motor City Yeoksam (Seoul) - half and half cheese and classic pepperoni Detroit style - the cheese comes with a side of maple honey - it basically tastes like very sweet maple syrup (maybe a translation error) - it actually was good for dipping the cheese side in - I wouldn’t dare pour it on due to stickiness - yummy, but I sure did feel guilty eating the whole thing - luckily, they are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, according to Google

corky - I hope you don’t think we are picking on you due to the pickles - if you like it, that’s all that matters. Just like all of the comments I received on my mortadella preference. I don’t think I’ve ever had a pickle in my life. Maybe, I’ll grow up and try one…maybe in 20 years or so.
