Korean chicken tacos, $6 happy hour portion.
Prior to that, I ordered a California roll that some dimwit in the kitchen decided to add a non-listed ingredient to: cream cheese. I realized before I swallowed and spat it out. I got a replacement order but it put a damper on my mood. The restaurant does a good job of identifying allergens on their menu, but someone apparently got creative or confused. The server was almost as horrified as I was. Ive gotten lazy. I usually ask even though a dairy product might not be listed in the description of a dish. My diligence is renewed.

Yeah, that would be a bad whups. Some of the people I know have other allergies.and during the pandemic, they pretty much made everything themselves until they couldn't handle it. Then once they started going out, they learned very quickly to be carrying allergy pills (and in one case, an injector). Sorry to hear about your experience.

Forgive me for asking, but I don't think you've mentioned it (at least not in a thread that I've participated in) but I would assume you're lactose intolerant?

Id be more worried for someone with a serious food allergy, like peanuts.

Tacos Los Altos, SF:
quesabirria tacos
shared guacamole & chips
topo Chico water
the quesabirria was delicious and I think I’m at the end of this fun food trend. I prefer offal tacos (tripe / cabeza / tongue) on an overall basis. Zero cheese needed.

I really like a good quesabirria taco. This trend has done nothing to enhance the experience. Sure, everyone sells them now by name only, but the truly good ones are still only found at the same few places that specialize and have been doing it for decades. Your photo proves the point. Those are NOT true quesabirria tacos. I also agree a good birria taco doesn't need cheese, though I don't mind it at all.

Dinner was a mixed-green salad with sliced avocado, tuna poka, tomatoes and some rice on the side.

Una tabla de snacks. Toasted baguette with a little mayo/wasabi/mustard/rice vinegar sauce, topped with shiso, sashimi, chives and furikake. Friend is coming over with a magnum from Elizabeth Spencer, and some additional nosh.

Dinner at the Capital City Chophouse near RDU.
Started with a house salad with blue cheese dressing on the side

Then the 12oz ribeye which I ordered with a baked potato. I did ask for the steak to be medium rare, though it was closer to medium well.

Dinner was the creme brulee.
