Dying for a cheeseburger tonight, even if it's just a quarter pounder with cheese from McD's. Spent almost two weeks abroad, and while I adore both Cantonese & French cuisine, there's just nothing like a good ole American cheeseburger that hits the spot just right.

I'm at a work training near Hutchinson, Kansas for the next few days and stopped by a place called Skaets Steak Shop which opened in Hutch in 1949. They have all-day breakfast, which did sound good, though I chose a pork tenderloin sandwich which I haven't had in ten~ years. The meal was great and the staff very friendly.

Stopped by Dairy Queen for a chocolate dipped cone afterward.

Tonight's dinner was at El Patio in Hutchinson, Kansas. This is a family owned restaurant which moved from a food truck into the brick and mortar establishment before Covid.

I was offered refills of rice and beans, though I had to turn them down because I filled up on the meal. The salsas were excellent (not pictured was the spicy salsa and it, too, was delicious).
They were great! Not too well done and also not very salty!

Bucket of clams. My 93 year old father in law wanted to go out to celebrate. He had an aortic valve replacement two weeks ago. His doctor released him from all restrictions yesterday. Hes tired of my healthy cooking, and no wine. Healthy meal from the previous night: grilled Cobia, asparagus and cantaloupe.
