I like almond milk but California (which grows something like half of the world's almonds) uses obscene amounts of scarce Colorado River water to grow them, and almonds are a very thirsty crop. So usually I get oat milk if I am doing non-cow milk. When we lived in Maine I used to get cow milk from a local dairy down the road. When I amassed enough empty bottles I'd take them to the dairy for a refund and an ice cream cone. I miss that here…

Almond milk still uses much less water than the cow's milk it replaces. I sleep well knowing I did my part.

Dinner was salad (mixed greens, roasted red pepper, white onion, tomato) with grilled chicken (with red wine vinegar and black pepper), and a steamed chicken bun from the Japanese bakery (though I only really ate the chicken). They were sold out of veggie buns :(
I also got some kimchi to try since the bodega I went to is Korean. It is not great. I'll have it with other stuff but I won't buy it again. -J. |

It’s not easy. Of course I’m sure that almond milk is tastier than oat. One day I’ll have to compare. |

One of my aunts used to make great poh piah... my cousin has taken over that duty, but it does bring back memories. All I had was satay beef hor fun tonight. But now I'm hungry again... I have some instant laksa (Prima)... maybe I'll go out tomorrow and grab some beansprouts and a few other ingredients... |
Breakfast today was pancakes from Aunt Jemima mix. Probably over a year since I've had pancakes. Real maple syrup(Costco), 3 scrambled eggs, and 2 Johnsonville pork sausage patties. Yum.

I think they changed the name from Aunt Jemima recently. Apparently it was racist
