From Costco? :) We bought some during their last sale, and I thought it pretty good.
Dinner tonight was turkey, stuffing, carrots, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and gravy, plus a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The neighbors picked up a family meal for us from a local restaurant. They also included vegetable soup, but I'll have some of that for lunch tomorrow. |

Did you eat the $200 as well? :)
Wish those notes were real so that they could be used for / on cruises flights , shopping / tips and such . Just interesting serviettes ;) sadly though , gfunkdave . Yes , GW McLintock , the food is always good & often the plating , especially by restaurants or friends , makes the food really palatable too . https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...62432b0ff.jpeg Veal consommé https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...eaffb47df.jpeg Carbonara with prosciutto https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e301d0469.jpeg Vongole https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5620096b8.jpeg One of the usual , molten chocolate cake https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8e41f5e9d.jpeg Poached pear in red wine , with side of chocolate gelato instead of vanilla |
Not sure which thread the other post in reply to corky lies in - about the Signature Tarte Aux Pommes box .
Here is another showing the accompanying gold candle . Been so busy , did not realise that the recipe is provided until prepping to include photo for this post ! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7c0b0134e.jpeg Inside the box showing the draw beneath layer for the tart Still have about a quarter of the tart to enjoy , shh 🤫 .. what was enjoyed tasted fine . Les Amis must be “ kidding “ about the tart being consumed “ within four hours of collection “ !! The first was delivered within 20 minutes , but it took 2 hours to deliver next 2 of these & doubt they were consumed within the next 2 hours . The 2 at our home were not .. on hold for a bit , friends had to wait before trying as all were already on a sugar high . |

You misunderstood. :) I've never heard it being called kueh pie tee. And I've never thought of it as a kueh. So it took a few moments for it to register it.
I've never made poh piah skins. I've seen them being made, but never tried it myself. Maybe one day I will. I suspect next time I'm over there I'm going to get a stern talking to. Thinking of the next family gathering there... everyone will dabao food over and I'll be the loser who tries to make something... Like from Indigo Blue ( Les Amis Group ) , see part of menu https://www.indigobluekitchen.com.sg...arrow-left.png IBK A La Carte Menu Starters & Soups Kueh Pie Tee $ (4 shells) Ngoh Hiang Poh piah & kueh pie tee ( shells too ) , as in just about all Peranakan dishes , are laboriously time consuming if prepared the authentic way .. but taking mere seconds to gobble down a single kueh pie tee ;) |

Well , always been kueh pie tee where we are in the region in Malaysia and Singapore .. only relatives in Melaka tell us restaurants there call them “ top hats “ - thing is easier for “ marketing “ .

I got a shrimp sushi burrito for lunch. Only $5 and oh so good... they also have tuna, salmon, and a few other options. I got salmon last time and it was great too.

If I made an apricot chutney and included a dry chardonnay in the base, then smothered this on well seasoned bone in pork chops before broiling….would this work? I’m not in the mood for my normal pork chop preparations.BBQ, fried with gravy).
What do you think panel? |
brunch... bowl of cornflakes

Sounds wonderful ...I love fruit with pork. Since there is sugar in the chutney it might burn...maybe add it at the last minute of broiling?
As for the taste….really good! The wine cut down on some of the sweetness of the apricots. I also included a little nutmeg and chive as well. Thumbs up from me. Lunch…maple turkey and swiss on rye. |

I used to love Corn Flakes... I now prefer bran flakes or preferably All-Bran.
Corn makes me  -J. I also enjoy some raisin bran once in awhile. I can't tell if that is meant to be truly angry, or it's the face you make when you clench hard doing number 2. :p |
Ok, my turn... Lunch... pork and shrimp dumplings... although only 20ish or so. and no cereal of any sort. (out of milk and haven't gone shopping yet)
