I googled this tomato-based stew invented in GA or VA. Which protein?? And do you think they were local beans? |

I don't like the "Dining Limits" listed. I could understand if this was an AYCE place, but if you are ontinuing to order and spend money, why should they stop you?

Dinner tonight on the back porch of our VRBO hosts. Homemade Brunswick stew. It was quite good and I could have eaten 3 bowls full if it had been offered and I didn’t want to look like a greedy pig.

Sounds like this has been a great place. Care to PM me with the contact info so I can look at renting it for a mini-vacation later this year?
The place we rented last year may also be available. It’s a studio and was very reasonably priced. Super nice host as well. She rents out rooms in the main house too but less room and less privacy. However, we could walk to Hi-Wire from there. Not that anywhere in AVL is more than 10 minutes from some brewery. Right now it’s not available until December 23. It gets snapped up pretty fast. |

I’ll speak with the hosts and let you know. They may have the place rented “long term” after we leave. But the main house may be available through the winter months. The hosts own a place on Anna Maria island where they winter. I mentioned we were thinking about coming back to see the Biltmore at Christmas and he said to give him a call because one or both houses might be available to us. As of right now, his VRBO account has been closed. I have no idea how he intends to market it going forward.

Post swimming pool! Carmen la hacienda, Novato CA
shared: super nachos with chicken taquitos me: carnitas taco barbacoa soup (shredded goat) - now I ponder if it’s the same as Goat Head soup. Shredded goat could very possibly be all from goat heads. super yum. Today is my first goat soup at a Mexican restaurant. Plus my first time in Novato north of the 37 highway junction as 37 leads to napa. Although I guess we usually exit the freeway at 12 to get to Sonoma and/or napa lol https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1b69833ed.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...386ca21f1.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cfd7cf37c.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d5b3c6150.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cded917e4.jpeg |

Thanks. I'm thinking that I'm due a relaxing vacation soon, and AVL has a ton of breweries that I'd love to try. :D
Relaxing, you bet. AVL is also a foodie paradise and every restaurant will have loads of taps, just in case you missed a brewery on your list. We actually come for the hiking. But that sure does work up a thirst. |

I have a pamphlet that lists 107 breweries, cideries, meaderies and distilleries in AVL and the surrounding area. My goal is to hit around 12-15 in August. So far, out of 7, 3 are new to us. The next 5 should also be, but it’s hard when I have favorites I haven’t returned to yet. I have also bought 5 of the dozen six packs I plan to bring home. That doesn’t include any 500ml bottles of aged ales I also will pick up.

No trip to Rome is complete without visiting Giolitti, the first gelato shop in town, near the parliament building. Had a small "Baba al Rum" - sweet and soaked with rum.

Dinner at Taverna del Seminario near the Pantheon:
Chickpea Stew with Cod Fish (Zuppa ceci e baccalà) Saltimbocca alla Romana or Pork Escalopes Wrapped with Prosciutto and Sage Served with Green Salad 1/2 liter of the house white - good for digestion! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4be879a6_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ca1922f5_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...74a4a7f4_z.jpg |

On our last night in Rome, my son told me that he wanted to have some Japanese food (believe it!) - so we went to Kisaki Ramen & Sushi near Il Tempio di Adriano:

The tomatoes look juicy, just a little over ripe for me and what's a BLT without overloading the bacon? The Sourdough looks good, did you bake it yourself?
Today it is just a tomato sandwich for breakfast..no bacon. But what a beautiful tomato. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...34e9f5a9d0.jpg |
