I would probably give smoked a try. At least here in the midwest US, we mainly see it in sushi/sashimi. So that's my point of reference.

Definitely. I think most people who don't like beef tongue, haven't tried it or haven't tried it in a lengua taco. Super tender and beefy. It's the fact that it's tongue that puts people off. Mackerel, on the other hand, is something people don't like only after they've tried it.

e.

who was confused & thought it was human tongue?
I do love a good human rib eye steak when Costco has a sale. :p

For dinner last night: chicken baked in cast iron skillet with rice and salad. Washed it down with couple of flutes of Schloss Biebrich sparkling wine.

My better half feels the same way about those noodles. Back to Shin cups!

Mrs braslvr recently bought a box of the Costco Tainan noodles. We both love them. A lot.

Aidells chicken and apple sausages, steamed broccoli from the neighbor & a garden salad.

Mackerel is fine but definitely on the fishier side. I wouldn't choose it, but I'd eat it if you put it in front of me and I were hungry.

I had chicken feet in Beijing and they were gross. I remember liking the sauce they were in but just kept chewing and chewing and chewing and one was more than enough. I don't know exactly what drunken shrimp are but I wouldn't eat any live animal. Also head cheese is kind of gross but I'd try it if it were in front of me. Tongue is on my short list of "ewwwww gross no".

Tongue is phenomenal. It's so tender. Amazing on fresh baguette with a bit of mayo and some tabouli or similar.

I haven’t had the heart to tell poor gaobest but the Aidells chicken apple sausages he loves and enjoys so much with his son have a pork casing. Oops!

I like the noodles without the sauce. I bought the Mala package which I boil and enjoy as a noodle soup - it would be fun to boil and then eat them as a pseudo chow mein / udon style noodle - I’m not sure if it’ll work well, to boil (cook) them and then stir fry them with the toppings.

I like this idea because I’ve not had a tongue sandwich like this. Hmm. I prefer no mayo. I fear I eat tongue sandwiches mostly just with mustard, as if it’s corned beef or pastrami. I’ve had tongue sandwiches at jewish delis in Chicagoland.

I haven't tried the sauce. We have been trying to find a noodle that is like the noodles in many Thai soups in Thailand. These are by far the closest.

I like thai noodle soup for sure - plus Asian noodle soups overall. These Tainan noodles are good in soups for sure. I probably disliked them when they weren’t served as soup and now I’m finding a better way to enjoy them. I still would like to try them as a fried noodle like chow Mein.

Like these? (there are also thinner versions ) - I'd try 99 ranch if you have that available

Nope. We have those and they're good for certain things, but the ones we were looking for are not rice noodles. The Costco noodles are close to perfect.
