Tongue is phenomenal. It's so tender. Amazing on fresh baguette with a bit of mayo and some tabouli or similar.

When I was little I remember going to my grandparents' for brunch. My parents brought lox and bagels. I told my grandpa I didn't like lox and didn't want any. He told me I couldn't possibly be his grandson. But now I love lox (well, nova). |
late luncheon:
sandwiches with prosciutto / spicy salami and fixings kettle chips - bourbon bbq / jalapeño

Trader Joes usedt to carry clotted/devonshire cream...not sure if they still do. I am pretty sure Whole Foods does but I know you won't go there. Cost Plus World Market too. I would call around first.
Personally I prefer mascarpone.

my child is busy chatting online with their significant other and is completely unaware that I consumed! when I fetched fondue cheese today, I couldn’t resist the freshly-sliced salumi options and I need to visit that cheese shop much more frequently. How they’ve survived when WF is a block away is a big inspiration for all indies. Oh and I bought my favorite butter for the first time in months! $16 when my Costco 4-lb pack is $8-ish.

I thought you said that it was about respecting his demand that you don’t have pork in the house. Not that you could eat it as long as he didn’t know you were eating it if he was in the house.

The only thing worse than letting your kid dictate what foods the parents are allowed to eat is having to sneak those foods in and hide your eating from the kid. What do you plan on saying when he points out that you agreed to his silly no pork rule? Define significant other. |

my child won’t notice the salumi products - consider how one would have to find them, and it’s easy to comprehend why they won’t be found. I’ve already mentioned the significant other in the match thread because I just want them to kiss before they might potentially possibly temporarily break up (as children tend to do) and thus regret the lack of kissing. Ah young crush love.

As far as the pork, why haven't you just been eating it behind his back all along ? Either you made a promise to him or you might as well openly eat it in front of him. What's he gonna do--ground you? :p |

Secret Valentine’s baking - currant scones, chocolate chip scones
uk clotted Cream french salted butter https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f8ad45990.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6063ed5b9.jpeg While my child enjoys Valentine’s Day video chat & Roblox gaming with their significant other, I’m going to enjoy another prosciutto & salami & arugula toasted sandwich. Yummy yum yum. Ooh might add some canned artichoke hearts!!! there is no way I would have baked scones if not for the FlyerTalk guidance in Dining Buzz with the baking threads! Big yay!! |
Lunch - repurposed leftover pork chops. I had originally cooked the extras to a bit underdone. I then put them in a very hot oven for 12 minutes while I stovetop grilled some broccolini, and made a little sauce with salted cultured butter, seeded mustard, sage, cream and a bit of salt.
No, not "low carbing" it - the breakfast muffin was proof of that! Just practicing some moderation! |

Today’s scones- triple cinnamon. King Arthur flour recipe. Kind of labor intensive but partner’s new favorite (as was yesterday’s cream scones until today). :D. I didn’t pay close attention to the recipe at the end so I ended up with bars rather than triangles and more of an icing than a glaze. Tasty nonetheless. |
