I volunteer at a food pantry on Wednesdays and today my favorite bakery dropped off a couple big bags of their loaded biscuits (best biscuits in the world with butter and homemade orange marmalade) and some chocolate cookies..so I just ate about half of them both. Mmm.

Max & bennys?

Yes, I was in the area around 11 am for another reason and it seemed like too good of an idea to pass up.

You ate half the food donated to the food pantry? Gasp!

I’ve had this raw unfiltered honey for a couple years. Local honey, bought with my CSA box of vegetables and fruit, I think. Pretty sure. I don’t recall buying any other honey anywhere else.

As I was sitting here, enjoying my sunflower butter toast, I read the label... BROOKLYN?! BELARUS?!

WTH?!

Btw, it tastes like a hay barn smells. That’s why I’ve had it so long... but it’s good for me. 😝

I've never been there, but we bought our treadmill at the fitness store in that complex. I was going to get a takeout order, but it was an hour and a half wait. No thanks!

Hah, no. I should have said I took one of each and ate half of them. Somehow we had tons of potato chips and corn chips today (we never do) and people loved those.

When we were In Chicagoland in November 2018 before we got our car rental, we had great DoorDash delivery from max & Benny’s. Mega yum. I love them so much.

Did the bakery donate food for the clientele or the staff?

Yeah, they can have a long wait, especially on weekends. Pre-COVID, we stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was packed, with a line in the deli area too. I had an appointment nearby that lasted about 30 mins. I put in an online order as I arrived at that appointment. They estimated 45 minutes to pickup, but I stopped by right afterward and it was ready. No one else was in the store around 11:30ish on a Wednesday, although there were several curbside pickups. You can definitely get the full Jewish deli menu there, and it's pretty darned good. If you get another chance, give it a try.

If I'm coming into my office early I treat myself to a Dunkin Donuts bagel, jelly doughnut and coffee so I'm working on those right now.

Mmm I love Max & Bennys. We used to take bagels and lox from there to my grandpa for brunch.

At the food panty the staff and volunteers will often grab something that strikes their fancy. We get a ton of donations.

Fresh sourdough from a local bakery, toasted and topped with chunky peanut butter.

And a small piece of O&H Kringle, just because it was there.
